Full of 'hippies' who really should know better, but seem strangely ignorant of the issues relevant to planet Earth just at the minute . . .
Too busy partying to pay attention, perchance?

All of a sudden it'll be,

"hey what's happened to the lights and the sound? We're the beautiful people, we're entitled to this stuff!"

Sad to say really, I always thought of myself as a hippy, but I seem to have a fundamentally different sense of priorities than most of those people.

Hehehe. I saw a poster yesterday by the 'born lazy' collective.... lobbying for a five day weekend.....

Man have they got a shock coming.

If I'm a hippy at heart, then I'm a hard working hippy.. to coin a username.

As far as hippydom goes, its the peace and love bit I like, and the respect for the planet. Unfortunately many of the hippys seem to think it's OK to sit around and get stoned all day, like that is some kind of a solution....

For every complex problem, there is a simple answer, and it's wrong.

Excellent!! 2 days working for actual money (or equivalent) 5 days gardening/repairing stuff/at the market/"putting food up"/etc, all at your own pace. I could live with that.

Oops I've managed to seriously p!ss off one of the party organisers on that other forum!!!

I was saying to him about the predictions of oil and electricity shortages, and asked him what his strategy is for running off-grid parties.

He said I was a pretentious save-the-world misfit and to leave him alone!!!

Of course, pretentious save-the-world types like me are always going to be out of place on a hippy forum, aren't they . . .

Just wait . . . they'll be sorry they didn't listen!!

Seriously . . . these alternative-living 'hippies' have 100% faith that the utilities will always provide mains power for their 'alternative' parties, and petrol so that people can get there.

Truth is stranger than fiction!

You'd think that, with all that mind altering stuff in their veins, they'd be able to take on one more alternative reality, like the peak oil one!

Probably something to do with the way they dance (big box, little box, big box, little box, swatting flies, big box, little box...) that prevents them from thinking outside it.

If they like boxes, make them listen to this!
