(picked up from today's Drumbeat)The fastest-growing bet in the oil market these days is that the price of crude will double to $200 a barrel by the end of the year.
Options to buy oil for $200 on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 10-fold in the past two months to 5,533 contracts, a record increase for any similar period.

I read a comment on TOD that as soon as the US gets its refineries running again in a couple of weeks they will suddlenly notice that they are in the middle of an accute petrol shortage with winter closing in and the heating oil stocks low, and a civil war in Nigeria and OPEC reducing production and several platforms in the Gulf of MExico at the bottom...
