Do you see PO everywhere? Its in the stars now...

Post by Miss Madam »

Now, I'm hoping I'm not the only one... but do you find that somedays you just see Peak Oil everywhere? My brain hurts

Take this for example, I'm a hippy at heart, so here's me having a nose at what my horoscope says for next year (ok mock... I know...) and to me it seems as if the astrologer is really hinting at peak oil hitting next year. Am I mad - what do you think?

The blurb at the start looks good to me - is it peak oil? Well, I'm expecting a relative oil glut next year as new projects come on and demand fails to materialise due to economic slowdown.

It reckons I'm going to become an evil capitalist next year
Scorpio: (October 23 - November 21) You?ll find your business interests expanding far beyond anything you expected. While many around you are struggling, you?re going for the gold. And if you choose to get involved, you could become one of the leaders. Go for it.

Me too! :D

surely there's gotta be some lucre in flogging PO preps to my useless profligate neighbours and their ever growing collection of games consoles (nothing like a nice bit of real life substitution). Bwahahaha

But I don't want to work. I want to win a million on my Premium Bonds and retire in PO ready luxury .

The opening blurb says:
"Get your own life in order ? NOW."

But my sign Aries says:
"Slow down! Rome wasn?t built in a day, and your life is no different."

Well that's clarified things for me.

This is really quite interesting... it looks as though the MSM (or at least, MSN  ) are trying to get through, in the most Joe-and-Vera-Public-friendly way they can, that things are about to go t1ts-up:
Mystic MSN wrote:Get your own life in order ? NOW. Whatever is uncertain, firm it up. Pay off as many debts as you can, and avoid running up any new ones. Start setting aside a little nest egg for yourself
This is the kind of message that forums such as this one and The Oil Drum have been banging out for months. Quite a surprise to see the anti-consumer message on MSN. And then there's this plea for more 'community' orientated living:
Mystic MSN wrote:Get involved. What cause appeals to you the most? Is it world peace, health and fitness for all, sustainable energy, or perhaps the rights of the weak, such as children and animals?
But then they go and ruin it, as far as my Star Sign is concerned:
Mystic Capitalystic MSN wrote:Aquarius will be lined up at the electronics store on Boxing Day, greedily snapping up gadgets, computers and flat panel televisions. They must buy the latest model with the most features
Over my dead body.
