Have you tried applying for a relatively small amount, when you get it, wait a couple of months and then apply for a balance transfer to another card. They fall over themselves to get a competitors business ( or at least they did!!).RogerCO wrote:Annoyingly I tried to do this a couple of weeks ago as my bank (coop/smile) had a 0% offer but I got turned down despite good income, minimal debts, and excellent record - on second thoughts it was probably because of the last two, plus I refused all the offers of protection insurance (why don't they come clean and just call it 'protection' chicago gangster style  ). They realised I was just going to take the 0% and pay it straight back at end of term.stumuz wrote:Those fantastic little deals will be back..0% interest on credit cards for 9 months.
Maybe it is the price of living a moderately low-profile life, paying cash where possible, minimal cards - they know I'm only out to screw them...
Did you open the coop smile account for the free wine? The rose was awful but the whites were not too shabby!
PS apply for the protection next time, and when they give you the card cancel it. As you say it's all a game.
Re: US mortgage crisis crosses Atlantic!
Don't be daft, there's no subprime over here! (sorry, thought I was on House Price Crash for a minute...oh no, I'm banned by the opinion police )RenewableCandy wrote:Was in Metro yesterday, lots of dodgy mortgage deals this side the pond are beginning to unravel. And today this:
