Where do I start?
Hello, first post from a newbie.
I have seen media coverage of peak oil, but not a lot. It's one of those things that goes on very much peripherally; I don't reckon most people are aware of the details of the arguments and facts, me included.
So here I am on this forum, there's loads of interesting stuff, but I think I need an introduction to peak oil, an idiot's guide. To be really blunt, something that will convince me that it's a large and imminent problem. Can you give me any hints on where to look?
Many thanks.

Hello Mr Livered!
Haven't I seen you somewhere before?
Nice to see you.
Reading through these posts, up to date news links etc should help as well as reading what folk have replied to Little Jimmy.
The DVD End of suburbia is pretty good, and you can order that from the site.
James is also writing a powerswitch book which is here somewhere too, available for editing. Maybe someone else can find the link for that for you!
The thing that made me sit up and realise how real it all was is meeting up with some of the folks. Where are you based? I bet there are others in your area.
All the best
Tracy

If it's book reading you're after I'd try David Strahan's 'The last oil shock'.

As good a place to start as any:Tracy Pepler wrote:

I would also highly recommend the four PO related books by Richard Heinberg:
The Party's Over, Powerdown, The Oil Depletion Protocol and Peak Everything.

Good lad. Welcome aboard the one-way train to the end of modern civilisation, which is what all us Idlers secretly pray for...Mr Livered wrote:Absolutely.RalphW wrote:Perhaps we could do lunch with a side order of doom and gloom sometime
Good! In fact at least two of my friends from over there are also powerswitchers, which is how I found this site.Judging from The Idle Foundation you should fit in well here.
As for a good site for a grounding, I would recommend wolfatthedoor.org.uk

Welcome to the mad house
End of suburbia is what I watched to get the low down on PO I think its brilliant. Can be had from torrents, newsgroups and probably on you tube now
