You know, one of the worst things that will hit us eventually is losing such easy access to the internet (if not the internet in its entirety), and one of the worst things about that would be not being able to visit Powerswitch! I imagine in a few years time (5, 10, 20, whatever) when society has fundamentally changed, in many ways for the worse (and in some ways it might even have improved), we'll all occasionally wonder what happened to "so-and-so" at powerswitch?.
I have been thinking along these lines recently. The other day on the tram I was reading a headline over someone's shoulder which said, "Internet Heading for Melt-Down". I just thought, oh no, not something else.

But it got me thinking - of course the internet is vulnerable, and without Powerswitch I would be very, very alone here in Bury, I expect most of us would be in that regard.

I came to the conclusion we will just have to evolve a bit and communicate by telepathy.

We could all agree now to meet up on The Longest Day 20whatever at some absolutely indestructable venue (Snowdon? 'Slong as nob***er discovers coal under it...) but...how would we recognise each other?

By the fact that we are alive, hopefully!

If you haven't already, have a read of that wonderful chapter in Michael Moore's book (I think it's in Stupid White Men), about How To Talk To Your Republican Brother-in-Law at Thanksgiving :)

bump

my prediction was 29th October 07
mocara was 25th November 07

I think I am still favourite to be closest.......

I do think that once the $100 barrier is breeched, things will start to unravel - watch the UK banks (more shocks to come) and wait for the big drop in the stock market.

To be honest that $100 mark is just plain scary, I'll be glad when its come and gone personally.

I want to change my guess from Aug 2008 to tomorrow!
What a shame, seemed quite promising, this human species.

I think the definition is $100 at close of business on any day.
I thought it would be worth reminding ourselves of the definition here!
