I tried to give away the prize by bringing in the Brent factor, but I
chose June 21st. Let's see if the US petrol stocks go down again
tomorrow...

Oil cleared $70.50 in US markets today. Wonder if it will close above $70...

Many happy returns of the day...Welcome to your 40s, its not so bad Im 44 next month, rather that than 15 in my book. At least we can look back and think thank god we were born in the 60s and have be able to enjoy the last 4 decades. 10 to 20 years or so starting with black and white TV with only 2 then 3 channels and only in the evening, old dial phones, local shops, post offices and garages, far fewer cars on the road and hardly any supermarkets, no microwaves, no computers, no mobiles or ipods, no central heating (for many), one car (if you were lucky) powercuts, strikes, 3 day weeks, the first oil shock, recession and then... 20 odd years of the energy intensive society, central heating hell even patio heating too! Colour digital TV (24/7) computers and the internet, mobile phones, cheap holidays abroad, 4X4s the rise of the supermarkets, cheap energy, cheap food, globalisation and the outsourceing of industry and banking to cheaper foriegn labour and many more, bla bla ....Now...well... we get the same again...BUT TUTHER WAY ABOUT!

Enjoy your big day

So who actually is our WINNER

Ballard did say 29th June - but that was in 2006 on the first time around the $70 bidding. He came back with 18th Oct in the second round back in March '07 (page 5 of this thread)

I think the winner is probably Sally who said 7-7-7 unless someone has a better claim.

If I can count days (never my strong point) I think it is a tie between
me and Sally. Each out by 8 days. Trust me to be the too pessimistic
one !

Wayhey!

Ralph looks like you and I did it!

Wonder will it still be $70 on 07/07/07 ?
Just would make the numbers pretty...

I would really enjoy $70.70 of course!

Not making the news much, though, is it? I see Brent Crude creeping up slow but steady...

OK, I reckon we'll hit the $100 some time soon.

But I also think it will slump back on the back of either some general good news in terms of supplies or the state of the US economy looking very bad some time in the nearish future.

My guess is 23/11/7

Caveat: obviously I could be completely wrong and PO is upon us and we get $200 first! Don't go and buy a 4x4 on the back of my view :-)
