Hopefully he will die soon. The replacement might be as mad, but hopefully not.Mark wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 20:01 Putin's legs twitch uncontrollably in bizarre footage in latest evidence the Russian leader is suffering from health problems:

I do not normally wish people dead, but make an exception for enemies in wartime.

He looks very ill. Probably suffering from cancer and / or Parkinson's. He apparently used to take loads of anabolic steroids back in his judo days. Could be catching up with him?adam2 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 21:57Hopefully he will die soon. Parkinson's usually kills people very slowly.

You actually believe this ridiculous propaganda? You also seem very enthusiastic about the idea of dead soldiers. Linking to a daily mail story, unironically, might even be a new low for you.Mark wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 19:53 Russia 'loses 2,000 troops in 24 hours in its biggest death toll for a single day since Ukraine invasion began'

Wow - 2,000 dead troops in 24 hours....
Wonder what the split was between Russians & N Koreans....?

Re: Ukraine Watch...
You could argue that dead Russians is a good investment in the future as they will no longer be able to invade anyone else. I don't get enthusiastic but it has a logic that is hard to deny.invalid wrote: ↑30 Nov 2024, 23:20You actually believe this ridiculous propaganda? Seems clear Russia is hurting and must be a bit stressful for Mr Putin knowing he could be executed for treason or incompetence if things don't get better.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Dead Russians are sadly part of the deal.
Dear Leader Putin will lead Russia to collapse. The question is - what comes after
Will China invade? Will the Americans take over Northern Russia to continue fracking???
Will Turkiye gain more land and power?

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Hang on, there aren't that many dead Russians. Thousands not millions, many were prisoners or folk drafted from the far east and South. Russia is not weakened to the point where the Americans might invade! China have the army to invade as they did before Ukraine - but won't while they can trade for Russia's natural resources and while such an invasion risks a nuclear response.

I accept that 2,000 might not be the exact figure, but I believe it's a high one...invalid wrote: ↑30 Nov 2024, 23:20You actually believe this ridiculous propaganda? The Russian military doesn't value its men - they're just meat into the grinder to try and gain a few more yards...
Russian disregard for human life is another reason why they can't win this.
With the fighting restarting in Syria, they're going to be very stretched in Ukraine....
Re: Ukraine Watch...
https://united24media.com/latest-news/z ... eeded-4149Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine’s military lacks the strength to fully liberate these areas by force, signaling a potential shift in his approach to ending the war.
“Our army lacks the strength to do that. That is true,” Zelenskyy said. “We do have to find diplomatic solutions.”
I think this backtracking speaks for itself..
Re: Ukraine Watch...
This is a response to Trump's "day one solution " to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If Zelinksy offers a deal of delayed return of territory by diplomatic means, for NATO security guarantees , (NATO membership by another name) he is hoping to seem reasonable and ready to negotiate to Trump. He knows that Putin would never accept NATO membership for Ukraine (And NATO will not admit a country that still has territorial disputes), so it is a an attempt to make Putin look intransigent in Trump's eyes, so raising the possibility that Trump will lose patience and go all in on helping UKraine to defeat Putin instead
Everybody knows this, except possibly Trump.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
And some other people seemed to believe that Ukraine could actually win a war of attrition against Russia.
Re: Ukraine Watch...
How many times do we have to point out the obvious to you ??
Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukraine is trying to defend its territory from an aggressor.
Everybody thought Russia would be far too powerful for Ukraine, but apparently not, as we've had over 1,000 days of this stalemate now....
Ukraine doesn't want to 'win' anything, other than reclaiming their invaded territory.
Re: Ukraine Watch...
of courseUkraine by itself couldnever win against Russia, but with the financialand military support of its western allies it could win, if the allies provided enough support, but as been pointed out on this thread for at least the last two years, both the US and Germany, possibly others, have deliberately delayed support to prevent Ukraine winning, but not to actually lose. The countries have been afraid of Putins threats to escalate, even though he has rarely followed through on any of his threats.
now both sides are hurting badly, withRussia resorting to North Korean troops to keep his racial white electorate from turning against him, but his economy now seriously overheating and shortages spreading. It will take major inputs on either side to significantly break the deadlock, but with Trump acting as a wildcard, any outcome is still possible.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
I think it is a numbers game and while the Russians might be using their ethnic groups disproportionately to prosecute this war that will have a limit. I think there were riots in Bashkirstan (sp?) earlier in the year over conscription. While the ethnic groups are very numerous nationwide the numbers of each group is generally small except the Chechens and Tatars, both Muslim groups who are growing rapidly and could cause instability in those areas, both oil producing regions, if the conscription continues.
I doubt China will invade but ten or so years ago China and Russia signed a treaty to 'permanently' demarcate their Eastern border, now China is talking about an 'unequal' treaty that gave Russia land South of the Amur river and producing maps that show this as disputed territory a bit like some parts of land that India administers.
All this plus Syria keeps Mr Putin awake at night and I see no need to change in spite of the occasional shrill statement from some Kremlin hanger on about nuclear destruction.
