I’m with you all the way on peak oil and collapse, but on climate change and Ukraine the consensus needs to be challenged.

The problem I have with climate alarmism is its total disassociation with my actual lived reality.

Its been cold, overcast and wet - but they’re telling me it’s actually the warmest on record?

May was very definitely not the warmest on record here.

It’s this total detachment of ‘official figures’ from actual lived reality that is so ridiculous.

Speaking as someone who has worked (at a very superficial level) on both flight control systems and atmospheric science whilst at the royal aerospace establishment I can assure you that climate change science is lot harder than rocket science.

It’s this total detachment of ‘official figures’ from actual lived reality that is so ridiculous.

It is ridiculous, that even simple metrics like the monthly and seasonal average temperatures are rejected. In the UK, both the metrological spring and the month of May were record warm. The hours of sunshine were below average and the daily maximums weren't high. BUT, the overcast weather meant the nighttime temperatures were high, high enough to pull the averages to record levels.

This sort of thinking is very common in our current society, and I guess most people assume it has always been that way and always will be, but I am not so sure this is true. There must be some degree of biological component to the denial of inconvenient truths, but I think there is also currently a very large cultural component. It is more nurture (or lack thereof) than nature.

The tendency to discount the future is a known phenomenon and is somewhat disconcerting. Especially at this point in our elections when we really need to be focusing on the energy cost of energy and the unpayable debt in most of the G7 etc

Is nobody apart from us taking this seriously?
