A summary report on a wide range of scientific research projects into battery technology that happens to include co2 in some way in its chemistry. None of them are anywhere near commercial development and the article is too broad brush to actually cover the detailed chemistry of any of the projects or assess their practical applications.

Meanwhile, there are a few new battery technologies for large scale storage that are affordable and coming on line already such as iron/air batteries. There are also flow batteries, a technology that has been shown to work but hasn't seem widespread implementation yet.

The more technologies that can work commercially the better so that we won't be beholden to any one or two countries for a critical mineral as is the case with lithium and rare earth minerals.
