3 Phase Solar Power with EPS. Anyone got it ?

Is Solar Power going to give the UK the energy it needs for the 21st century?

3 Phase Solar Power with EPS. Anyone got it ?

Post by Catweazle »

I have a single phase system for my home, it can function as an emergency mains supply from the 7.5kwh battery storage when mains grid is lost.

I would like to fit a similar system, but 3 Phase, to my workshop. Ideally, I don't want to have grid 3 Phase installed because of the installation costs and standing charges, so the system must have the EPS ability my home system has.

Does anyone here know of such an inverter that is reasonably priced and preferably able to link with others to expand the capacity when extra machinery is added to the load ?

3 Victron inverters can be connected/configured to provide three phase.

I seem to remember that Victron inverters have a poor reliability record, but I might be being unfair, and I hear of many dead examples because they were early to the market, and have now passed their expected design life.

Naw, Victron are gold standard these days, expensive but a great product (with a few exceptions). Company also has a really nice 'open' ethic, the complete opposite of Tesla.

Initial reading suggests that the Victron Multiplus II GX is a good solution, although expensive and I'm not clear whether I'd need three of them or just one and two cheaper slave inverters. They seem to be limited to 48v, so a cheapish lead acid battery bank is possible, although I think I'd prefer to use a high voltage lithium set like my home system.

More research required

What's your lithium battery setup?
