Ukraine Watch...

Re: Ukraine Watch...
I can see that the deluge of pro Russian trolling has arrived at powerswitch. A sure sign that Russia is increasingly desperate to sow division in its enemies.
Edit.
Before the outrage, I am not serious about powerswitch being of sufficient interest to Russia to have directed trolls towards it.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Some of can see both sides of the argument.I can see that the deluge of pro Russian trolling has arrived at powerswitch.
The way that the UK media and government went 100% full-on pro-Ukrainian from the first second warned me that we were being lied to.
It didn't take much research to find out that:
a: Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries on the planet.
b: Ukraine has been shelling the separatists - including cities - for 8 years.
c: Ukraine has been dropping thousands of tiny anti-personnel mines over cities.
Both sides are equally bad - it certainly wasn't an 'unprovoked' war.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
During the last war, a small minority of the UK population called for a "negotiated peace" with hitler or even for surrender. Such views were not popular and in wartime could be considered as treachery.
Calls for Ukraine to negotiate with russia, which means letting russia keep some of the land that they have invaded, probably enjoy similarly limited support.

I wouldn't support those terms.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
I agree, there is minimum trolling on this issue.
The conflict is awfully entrenched and deadlocked; negotiations hold better prospects than armament.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Today Putin is negotiating with The NK dictator for arms in exchange for "space technology" ie ballistic missiles for their nuclear bombs.
That is armament, not negotiation.

Nothing surprising going on.
The human slime mould is simply optimising its configuration in real-time.
There is no 'they' out there, no cabal controlling human society .. just a swarm of agents, each with their own rules of behaviour, all interacting.

Yeah one does have to wonder about those who simply shout “Russian Troll” whenever an opinion contrary to their own is posted.Ralphw2 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2023, 07:19 I can see that the deluge of pro Russian trolling has arrived at powerswitch. The idea that this little forum is being officially targeted by Russia is just plainly ridiculous.
People holding that view are probably just suffering from delusions of grandeur.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
A large Russian landing craft and submarine seriously damaged, probably destroyed in Sevastopol dry dock. The dry dock is one of only four in Russian Black Sea, so it being out of action is probably the bigger impact on naval operations.

Yes! And it looks like it might have been a Storm Shadow missile attack - so I’ll have to partially withdraw my condemnation of them as largely useless.
I think we gave them to the Ukraine in may or June though, so this really isn’t much of an achievement.
What happened to all the others that they’ve launched?
I hope you’re happy that we’ve contributed to the murder of husbands, sons and fathers of whatever nationality and it distresses me that you seem to be eagerly looking forward to more.

“impact on naval operations”
I think one thing that we can all agree on is that the era of naval ‘projection of power’ is now over in any serious conflict. Warships are just sitting ducks in an age of drone warfare and hypersonic glide weapons.
We did get a foretaste of this in the Falklands when the French supplied Exocets were used against us.

Ah yes. It was just a bit of virtue signalling that we went for.
I think 2 of the very few Leopard tanks supplied have now been burned out and posted on YouTube.
“After weeks of reluctance, Germany has agreed to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, in what Kyiv hopes will be a game-changer on the battlefield.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the decision to send 14 tanks“
That’s been working out really well so far. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the remaining 12 to push through to Vladivostok

This is not new.Warships are just sitting ducks in an age of drone warfare and hypersonic glide weapons.
It has been accepted for decades that capital ships would all be sunk within 3 weeks of WW3 starting.
The Russians planned to attack NATO ships with large number of air launched missiles from large groups of aircraft.
The missiles would have had nuclear warheads.
