In Latvia, those who drive whilst badly over the legal limit have their vehicles impounded.
Under a new policy, these impounded vehicles are being given to Ukraine to help in the war effort.

IMHO we should do something similar here. Unroadworthy vehicles or those in poor condition should be disposed of for scrap, but those in reasonable condition could reasonably be donated to Ukraine.
Do not drink and drive, esp. in Latvia.

Always thought it's a terrible waste of resources when the cars of drunk drivers or other offenders are crushed....
Much better to sell the cars and recompense victims.... ?
Or even dismantle them for parts...
Not sure about sending ours from the UK to Ukraine - wouldn't there be an issue with right/left hand drive ?
Then again, does that really matter in a war zone ?

I doubt that left hand/right hand drive is much of a concern in wartime.
I agree that crushing or otherwise destroying serviceable vehicles is a terrible waste of money and embodied energy, and support sending them to Ukraine.
