Iran Watch...

Re: Iran Watch...
Somehow I suspect that the regime is not going to let a few tens of thousands of mere women come between them and their God given right to exploit the fourth largest oil reserves in the world for their personal enrichment, given their previous willingness to sacrifice so many of their fine young men in blood war or overseas jihad, and now with the support of that nice Mr Putin who is paying them very well for a few low cost drones and missiles. It's not that they are short of population that another 50,000 unmarked graves would dent their economy significantly.
Just my rather sad prediction.

Re: Iran Watch...
I saw an interesting video, that I could not link to, with people being videoed knocking turbans off 'holy men' in Iran. Looked quite funny.
A bit like that 'happy slapping' craze that hit the UK a few years back but some more serious consequences I suppose. Like Fatwas and stoning to death. It shows that a section of Iran's population is losing their respect for the people who stole their popular revolution all those years ago.
Edit: Here's a link from a NZ news outlet.

Iran's birth rate is 2.1 children per woman, and if they carry on killing their young women or turning them into refugees...

Re: Iran Watch...
I think they were resorting to using Hazara refugees living in Iran to fight in Syrian militias so you are probably right. Why do your own fighting when you can get someone else to take the risks.RenewableCandy wrote: ↑19 Nov 2022, 21:28 Iran's birth rate is 2.1 children per woman, and if they carry on killing their young women or turning them into refugees...

I also hear that Ayatollah Khomeini's former home got burnt down a few days ago.

Re: Iran Watch...
Reports of drone missile attacks on several targets in Iran, including an oil refinery, the revolutionary guard, and a drone factory.
Isreal is assumed to be behind the attacks, and could be seen as supporting Ukraine by the attack on the drone factory. There appears to be a large fire at the refinery as a result, but I suspect the attack is more symbolic than a serious attempt to degrade the Iranian military.

I thought Israel were one of the least pro-Ukraine countries in the west-aligned world? They haven't given any (?) material assistance to date? The neo-nazi elements in the Ukrainian military are a bit problematic for the Israeli regime, and they maintain a reasonable relationship with Moscow.
I expect their beef with Iran is independent of Iran's support for Russia's invasion.

Re: Iran Watch...
I think the Israelis are big enough to see through all the neo-Nazi name calling. The number of Russian Jews falls each year due to emigration and ties are probably loosening. I can't think of any Jews in the Russian government recently while Zelensky is one. What might make them take notice is the calls by Russian lunatics on their TV channels recently for Russia to give nukes to Iran, Cuba and Venezuela to harass the US. I look forward to swarms of cheap drones taking to the skies in the near future to test air defences of various countries. Have a few dry runs of various doomsday weapons perhaps.clv101 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 14:51 I thought Israel were one of the least pro-Ukraine countries in the west-aligned world? The worry about that is the huge amount of control the Russian government exerts over media content and the fact that it still goes out!BritDownUnder wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 21:02 .............What might make them take notice is the calls by Russian lunatics on their TV channels recently for Russia to give nukes to Iran, Cuba and Venezuela to harass the US. ..................
Mind you how many times have Putin and co threatened to use nukes in Ukraine and they haven't even got them out of storage yet despite all their red lines having been crossed according to intelligence sources?

I am a big fan of nuclear proliferation. Just imagine if China's neighbours all had nukes. Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Vietnam and not forgetting Australia. A more caution. Same with Russia.clv101 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 21:36Indeed, that really would put the cat amongst the pigeons!BritDownUnder wrote: ↑29 Jan 2023, 21:02 ... might make them take notice is the calls by Russian lunatics on their TV channels recently for Russia to give nukes to Iran, Cuba and Venezuela to harass the US.

Re: Iran Watch...
A missile that gets from Russia to the UK in one minute is probably a bit fanciful. Launching them from subs nearer to the UK is a bit more plausible.
I would guess they may have a nuke in their London embassy or other diplomatic property as a last resort nuke.

Re: Iran Watch...
Iranian president was apparently in a helicopter that had a "heavy landing" whilst travelling in a 3 chopper convoy in a remote area. Bad weather has prevented access to the crash and his fate is unknown. Presumably the other choppers didnt hang around or attempt rescue.
I suspect hard landing is a euthamism (sp) for controlled flight into terrain.
