Conservative party/opposition watch

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

I'd much rather have an MP that had virtues of integrity, sincerity, humility, compassion etc, even if they held different views to me on political issues.
Our local MP just takes the money.

He always votes for the default Conservative policy.

He never has any ideas of his own.

Not bad, not good ... just useless.

I think I have just repeated ehat you said, but using more accurate language :)
The question for Starmer is, "how long can he keep the rabid hordes of future Labour MPs that will occupy the house after a Labour win from tearing each others throats out?" Labour is as divided over Europe and many other matters as the Tories are only they have the advantage of being in opposition and not having to have any policies in writing. They range from Communist Lite to Tory Lite and Europhile to Europhobe with every combination of all those things. He has already probably lost London to the LibDems by saying that Labour won't be rejoining Europe. So, Good luck to PM Starmer!!

Well, there's nothing to post here about the tories. It has all gone deathly silent.

Hacked can mean lots of things as what and how much was "hacked" was not disclosed.

I would imagine any body with the ability to do this type of thing would
also be more than capable of covering their traces so how this was attributed to
"the Russians" rather than say the dastardly French or the quiet Americans must be wondered at. :?

Matt Hancock is kicked out of the parliamentary Tory party after joining I'm A Celeb for an estimated fee of around £350k - as No 10 says he should be 'working hard for his constituents' instead of becoming the 12th celebrity heading into the jungle

Can this contemptible shower go any lower ?

Why should he be allowed to 'serve' as an independent ??
There should be an immediate by-election.

MPs are allowed holidays, and if they choose to spend their holidays taking part in inane TV shows than that is up to them.

It's not during his holiday though, it's in parliamentary time.

Interesting to see him lose the whip for this while when a minister breaks ministerial code, breaches security, misleads Parliament - no problem, carry on as Home Secretary.

Their problems are so far removed from ours it's irreparable. The situation can only be resolved by a GE.

Currently being avoided by the claim that they will honour Johnson's 2019 manifesto...

There is currently talk of 10-15% cuts across all government deparments. So hospitals and schools, already at breaking point and facing massive hikes in fuel bills, have to find real terms (not inflation-adjusted) cuts. This is impossible without those services starting to collapse. The only alternative is significant across-the-board tax rises, which will be opposed by the bulk of the tory party.

Johnson's manifesto gives no mandate for either austerity or general tax rises, meaning the situation really can only be resolved with a GE. I predict that if Sunak doesn't call one then he will start to lose control of the situation before Christmas. Labour will make hay, forcing votes in the commons designed to exploit disunity in the tories.

Hancock is a distraction. He should be ignored.

Parliament is currently sitting...., they're not in recess...., he's elected and gets well paid to represent his constituents....
Assume from your comment you think Hancock's actions are OK ?

I wonder if those who live there experience a better class of public representatives
in Wales compared to England?

They should do, they've got two governments unlike us poor English people who get governed by the Welsh, Scots and Norn Irish as well!

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen faces five-day Commons suspension for breaking lobbying rules - as he is also blasted for 'completely unacceptable' attempt to pressure Parliament's standards commissioner into letting him off:

Yet another rotten apple.....
Do they any good ones in the barrel ?
