Anyone come across Peter Zeihan? I'm reading his book The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization at the moment, it's a great and up to date summary of our current geopolitics situation.

He's also a good speaker, here's a 'fun' presentation from last week:

I heard he was a great fan of shale.

Yes, I think he overpays the significance of shale. He plays well to an American audience.

He comes across a bit like a used car salesman. or a Web end-of-the world pundit.

That said, his arguments seem persuasive.

Do you trust his opinions?

Take it all with a pinch of salt, I think there's exaggeration and hyperbole. Vaclav Smil is a lot sharper - I'd especially recommend recent book 'How the world really works'.

Based on German channels I follow, I suspect his gloom about the future demise of Germany (and Austria) could be correct..
