Will winter 2022/2023 be cold.

In the UK and Europe. Of particular importance with the concerns about fuel prices.
Are any long range forecasts yet available ?
The daily express are no doubt forecasting "killer storms" and the coldest weather "for 100 years" But are any more reliable forecasts available.

Too soon for any skill. Sea surface temperatures are currently high so we're unlikely to see a particularly cold start to winter, but we can't say anything 5+ months out.

Any fairly reliable forecasts yet ? Of greater significance this year due to higher fuel prices and possible shortages.

Brian collates all the seasonal forecasts. Looking like a milder than average winter, as usual.

Climate Change in action there. Everything's 'warmer than average' now.

But that average doesn't preclude extreme cold to counter extreme warming. It's just that the extreme cold might be ever so slightly "warmer" than previous extreme cold.
