Post by Mark »

https://reliefweb.int/report/world/glob ... index-2021
The Global Climate Risk Index 2021 analyses and ranks to what extent countries and regions have been affected by impacts of climate related extreme weather events (storms, floods, heatwaves etc.). The most recent data available for 2019 and from 2000 to 2019 was taken into account.
The 10 most affected countries in 2019:
1 Mozambique
2 Zimbabwe
3 The Bahamas
4 Japan
5 Malawi
6 Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
7 India
8 South Sudan
9 Niger
10 Bolivia

19 Australia
32 China
39 Russia
40 France
56 Germany
102 UK
123 Ireland

No reason given for the USA not being listed ????

Global Climate Risk Index 2019
https://reliefweb.int/report/world/glob ... index-2019

The 10 most affected countries in 2017:
1 Puerto Rico
2 Sri Lanka
3 Dominica
4 Nepal
5 Peru
6 Vietnam
7 Madagascar
8 Sierra Leone
9 Bangladesh
10 Thailand

12 USA
18 Australia
31 China
40 Germany
59 France
62 Ireland
71 Russia
106 UK

Surprised how much the list has changed in 2yrs - the 'top 10' is entirely different.....
Suspect the USA might have made it into the 'top 10' in the 2021 index, and then removed due to political pressure....??

The US is a big place and at the moment the climate risks are not happening all at once and in the same places.

They have drought in California and floods in Kentucky and the people probably aren't linking the two.
G'Day cobber!
