The membership of the RMT have voted by a substantial majority for strike action.
Affecting all the major passenger train operators and network rail.
Whilst railway freight is not directly affected, significant disruption is expected due to signalers striking.
So much for encouraging greener transport choices.
National rail strike looms.

Re: National rail strike looms.
The dates for the first series of strikes have been announced.
21st, 23rd, and 25th days of this month. I expect about a week of significant disruption.
If these strikes are well supported and long continued, then I expect some strikes in other industries, that might LOOK LIKE sympathetic action. Examples could include,
Tanker drivers.
Bus drivers.
Dock and port workers.
Ship and ferry workers.
Power station engineers.
National grid staff.
DNO staff.
Oil refinery staff.
Highways maintenance contractors.
Any such strikes would be much more effective if they took place whilst train services were disrupted.
Sympathetic strike action has been prohibited for some years, but nothing prohibits unrelated strikes in other industries that merely happen to occur at the same time.

Think you'll find that many at P&O were illegally dismissed recently....., and replaced with foreign labour on less than minimum wage......
With inflation is running at about 10%, employees are bound to want an uplift in salaries to compensate....
Railway workers are able to make their voices heard - most other people aren't....
