This one is monkey pox, in the smallpox family, although it's main animal host is not known. Central Africa is where it is endemic, not often fatal, this outbreak probably came from Nigeria, 7 cases in the UK so far, mostly homosexual men

Another interpretation is a side effect of long covid. There are studies showing that covid infection can "exhaust" the t cell element of the human immune system, leading to people being less resistant to other infections.

The government is buying stocks of smallpox virus as this has some protective value against monkypox. Is the government being proactive for once?
