Re: Ukraine Watch...
Two wrongs don't make a right. I went on 7 anti-war marches amongst 2 million others in the UK when we joined the second Iraq war. It was a stupid immoral and pointless war. I am sorry that none of the leaders in the UK or US were ever put in jail for their crimes.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a stupid immoral and pointless war. Russia has lost this war militarily and they have lost strategically . All they can do now is kill civilians and destroy infrastructure. Even if they do crush all military opposition all they will be able to do is deport the remaining population to the depths of Siberia and try to import Russian nationals to farm the devastated land and rebuild the flattened ports and factories. Stalin would be proud.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Looks like Plan A has not worked for the Russians, i.e. them being welcomed as liberators. Now Plan B to destroy Syrian style.
I am not sure that the US or its allies levelled too many Iraqi cities during the initial invasion in 2003. A few Saddam statues got knocked down.
Mosul did get a lot of bombing in 2014-16 due to ISIS being there during that time.
I would be interested to know what Putin's plans are for the 'liberated' people of Ukraine are? After all it will be a big police operation to keep watch on about 20 million of them.
As for bringing in workers from Russia, I think the country is in steep demographic decline except for followers of a certain religion. Already a lot of workers in Russia are migrants from Central Asian former Soviet republics who are also followers of that same certain religion. Unless Putin has a few rabbits in his hat that he has not revealed then he and also Russia are screwed in quite a lot of ways due to his policies.

I know exactly what you are, and you will not get a rise out of me. If the consensus here is you should not be banned, I will just ignore you.invalid wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 10:28So you have no argument to back up your 'feelings'? Have you noticed anything in the days since your post that suggests Putin is looking for a way out? Do you base your analysis on the Daily Heil?UndercoverElephant wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 08:04You are a Russian troll and I have no idea why your account has not been deleted. WTF Adam? Rather more sadly this also prevents you from learning anything, and may be why you continue to approach so many different world events with a binary view. Essentially, childish and insecure - it looks rather like a tantrum, belied also by the fact that your first reaction upon encountering a different viewpoint was to demand for it to be cancelled.
I almost pity you.

OK. We're making progress. You accept that the dead babies are real and not fake news.Default0ptions wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 21:02It’s a war. Babies get killed. The ‘West’ manages to kill astounding numbers of civilians. I assume the bombs and missiles don’t really discriminate between adult and infant bodies at the point of impact - even though we only bomb other nations with ‘freedom and democracy’.
Now, on to the second very basic point. You believe the Ukrainians killed their own babies for propaganda purposes?

Re: Ukraine Watch...
This article on what a Finn says suggests that Putin might be waiting for Trump to get back in and withdraw support to NATO in Ukraine. He also says that The US government should get on and prosecute Trump to keep him out of office. Can't argue with that!

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Invalid registered as a user in 2009. Their first post was on 2 march 2022. 15 out of 17 posts have been on the Ukraine thread.
Powerswitch has many hundreds of users who register and never post. In 2009 the profile of this site was much higher than it is now, thanks to the peak oil price in 2008 of $147 and peak oil being briefly trending on google.
So, it does seem possible that the invalid is a sleeping account that has been activated at a time that a bit of social media trolling is required to raise the google profile of a particular point of view. If so, they are probably wasting their time given how little influence powerswitch has these days on google ratings.
The rate of unused user registrations dropped off sharply in 2013. There have only been a few dozen since.

There are a lot of dormant accounts about which I am doubtful, but not sufficiently doubtful so as to delete them.
Those that are blatant I simply delete, but the merely doubtful have to be given the benefit of the doubt. The war in Ukraine has seen an increase in new and not active members.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Neither you nor I were there Stumuz2. We only ‘know’ what we are told by ‘the news’. I only accept that those pictures are of dead babies. Without access to the metadata in the original pictures no one can say where the picture is from.
It is the focus of the current news on the ‘dead babies’ in this war in Ukraine, when the same news agencies ignore civilian casualties in the wars we wage and instead laud ‘shock and awe’ attacks by our forces . . . in which many babies also end up dead, that I am questioning.
War is always a terrible thing. Allowing yourself to be emotionally swayed by selective reporting is not the best way to try to understand the big picture of what is going on.
Reductio ad absurdum of particular instances is both philosophically dubious and not particularly helpful.

You may not like Fox News, but Tucker has just produced an interesting video.
He notes that Ukraine is far from a democracy .. and is getting worse.
He also showed that at least one Ukrainian unit is castrating captured Russian prisoners ... 'cockroaches'.

Re: Ukraine Watch...
Now we're in a 'war of attrition', atrocities are bound to be committed by both sides. Considering that Ukraine was peacefully going about its business a month ago, and the death and destruction since, the temptation to gain revenge on Russian captives must be enormous. That still doesn't make it right, of course.Vortex2 wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 08:05 You may not like Fox News, but Tucker has just produced an interesting video.

The facts remain the same - Ukraine is the innocent party in this conflict.
Are you suggesting that Russia was justified because Ukraine only had a 'fledgling' democracy ???
If so, (undemocratic) Russia would be justified in invading half the world....???
