I am the only male on the paternal side of the family who has not joined UK forces for over 1oo years! Bit of an enigma in my family. :D
automaticearth2 wrote: 11 Mar 2022, 09:36 Apparently, Putin now saying that experienced Syrian soldiers could be joining the fray in Ukraine. It will be interesting to see how the Americans respond to that. They could use this pretext to maybe topple Assad, which would help to deny Russia it's main warm-water port, and leave the US 5th fleet dominant, which is based in Qatar I believe. Lots of geopolitics at play here folks.....
Yep war is expensive, and the enemies take advantage of weakness when you are fighting.

He may well be, but I'd rather decide for myself than swallow the first story I hear.
I tend to look at facts rather than opinions whoever spouts them, MSM, internet etc.

Fact 1
Russia has invaded its neighbour with huge military force.
Fact 2
hospitals, civilian infrastructure has been targeted.
Fact 3
Populations are on the move, and becoming refugees, as documented in every invasion of a country in history.

Confirmed that Putin has signed off on 16.000 Syrian 'volunteers' joining the war. Yet we will prosecute any UK soldiers who volunteer on the Ukrainian side.

If Russia wins on the ground it will be by force of numbers. Syrians won't have any qualms about how they kill Ukrainians, unlike some of the Russian conscripts who have family in the country,

Ukraine is accepting all volunteer fighters

A quick reading above. Yep, as expected.

Did UE accuse someone of being a paid Russian troll? Oh dear.

Ukraine reports that Russian artillery is shelling Belarus in a false flag operation. Russian personnel try to take over operation of the nuclear power station attacked and occupied by last week, but are repelled by the Ukrainian staff, who I assume have barricaded themselves in and are refusing to shut down the reactors.

It was in 1846 apparently. Probably not particularly pertinent. Mexican - American war.

Canada was 19th century too.

I’m pretty sure we don’t need to hang out discussion on either of those lol

It has involved itself pretty deeply in South American states and is still embargoing Cuba I believe.

And it’s sudden return to wooing Venezuela for more oil is cringeworthy after all the recognising Guadio as president.

Not sure how well all that’s going to go since the Uk grabbed their gold holdings. And the US flew out Ukraine’s gold after the Maidan / Nuland / “fcuk the EU” events in 2014

I must admit the Ukrainian allegations against Russia of preparing false flag operations are coming thick and fast, and some stretch credulity, so I can't believe they are all true. Although it never hurts to have 2 or 3 plan B s when the Media has past experience of your propaganda style. If this war wasn't tragic, some of it would be farce.

Ukraine seems to be implying they are winning on the ground, which makes me think that their defences might be crumbling from the onslaught, where numbers compensates for incompetence.

I am beginning to get a bit of war stress from knowing that the first casualty of war is truth. Both sides always lie, and you have to remember who each lie is addressed to in order to judge what truths they are covering up.

Ukraine biolabs:

Nuland appears to admit they exist:

We could have avoided all this. After all, Russia does have a point about not wanting Ukraine with nato missiles on its doorstep.

The USA was prepared to go nuclear to stop soviet missiles being stationed in Cuba remember?

I’m not a great one for conspiracy theories, but there’s a great plot for a novel here about how “the west” goaded Russia into a war to pin the blame for total economic collapse and the end of the fossil fuelled world on those evil orc from Mordor wrecking our shining beacons of freedom and democracy.

I've never really understood this concern. NATO members Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are just as close to Moscow.
