Red warning for severe weather.

Post by adam2 »

The met office have issued a rare RED WARNING for severe wind in parts of North east Scotland and North East England.
A wider area is under an amber warning, and much of the UK under a yellow warning.
There are also snow warnings in places.

If in the red warning area please take care and avoid travel. Significant damage and danger to life is possible.
If in the amber warning area, please be cautious, and avoid non essential travel.

The yellow warning is less serious and means in effect, expect seasonal weather.

Been following this storm all week. The winds won't be crazy, maybe gusts of 60mph - but very unusually from the north. In the last 5 years or so tonight will be the strongest northerly winds we've had, we usually get strong winds from South and West.

Due to unusual direction, the impacts will be larger than the wind speeds suggest.
