Collected exactly one of those at the beginning of the year. Used, 55k km on the clock, 6 years old, put 15k km on it since. Rotated the tires once, there is just nothing else to do. No change in battery condition, wife charges it at work for free, the easiest ownership in my history of cars. She now gets irritated if she has to drive anything else.

I would not be surprised if people continued to drive at a more risky level as the roads got busier again, but equally you may have forgotten the normal level of risk you encountered before lock down, and your expectation of seeing risky behaviour is now lower than it used to be.
Yes it is difficult to be objective about these things especially if the behavior was slowly worsening
over a period of time. I think the analogy is of a lobster being cooked as the water is heated up from cold.
Of course there is always some degree of bias confirmation as well; however my impression remains that the general
level of toad rage is increasing.

Around here, the school run seems to bring out the worst in drivers. There have been several cases of physical combat over parking at schools.
And parking in other peoples drives is regarded as acceptable for the school run "I just HAD to, there was nowhere else"

And of course zig-zag road markings mean "priority pick and drop off zone for school run"

I was hugely entertained when one of the few black families in the area put up a notice in their drive. "DO NOT PARK HERE. IF YOU DO PARK HERE, WE WILL PUT A VOODOO CURSE ON YOUR CHILDREN. THEY WILL SUFFER HEAD PAINS BEFORE THEIR HEADS EXPLODE" There is no record of any heads actually exploding.

I walked to primary school and took a bus to secondary school, but that is now VERY last year.

I hardly ever did anything other than walk to school. It had to be absolutely throwing it down for us to get a lift , that's even if we had a parent who could drive at home at the time. Same goes for my own daughter. As it is we only live about 500 yards from the school where she is studying for her A levels but at a couple of times a day for a short period the road becomes very busy but slow because of the parked cars.
I was reminded of this topic with regards to speed earlier this week. As i mentioned earlier on my regular 3-4 mile trips i stick to 50mph. Monday and tuesday i made a rare venture out onto the motorway. I had to travel 45 miles for work , a formally local couple who moved but wanted someone they know and trust. Almost subconsciously i found myself driving faster , 10-15 mph faster. I'm not sure if it was a sort of peer pressure , driving faster to keep up with the rest of the traffic or whether it was that longer journeys induce higher speeds because we'd rather be at home or doing something else than being sat on a motorway.

There has been a double murder not that far from me.

Said to be due to "parking rage" which is a sub species of road rage.

Here is an extreme example of illegal parking, and a rather extreme reaction by the farmer whose access was obstructed.
The farmer was acquitted, correctly in my view.

EV charger rage!

The really bad driving season is just starting here again as school holidays beckon
and the invasion of the zombie tourist SUV drivers starts again. However this is all put in
perspective by the following excerpt of a posting on the ever revealing r/collapse
Weekly Observations from "Pacific Northwest" .

" Driving is incredibly scary and most road laws are no longer obeyed. My spouse and I got caught in a road takeover by a motorcycle gang on I-5 a couple of days ago. They stared us down as they ran cars out of the lanes and off the road. There were hundreds of them. It was terrifying. I don't think anyone was hurt, but it was brazen. Nothing happened to them as far as I'm aware. What's next? Teenagers are constantly taking over local bridges to street race and do donuts."

I am guessing that the soldier will have seen active service resulting in ptsd. It is nothing new, but the military have never done enough to support veterans after service. I watched the BBC documentary of 40 years after the Falklands. Of the 10 soldiers interviewed, at leat 8 still had mental health issues, and one of the others only coped because he was brought up in the care system and was already serially abused and traumatised when he joined the military.

Yes they are pretty much discarded as bring of no further use and largely left to their
own devices and charity to pick up the pieces and try to adjust to civilian life as best they can.
I think it probably fair to say the War Department don't give a F--k about them once they have been ejected.

p.s. Didn't realise PS has a naughty word censor built in!
