Peak Oil never went away (Article)
This is an interesting article saying that Peak Oil never went away and even with Tight Oil the US has probably peaked in production or is very near to that peak.

The article has a graph that shows current US whale oil production the same as it was at its peak. I believe it is currently nil.

It's showing cumulative production, not current.UndercoverElephant wrote: ↑06 Dec 2020, 21:25 The article has a graph that shows current US whale oil production the same as it was at its peak. I believe it is currently nil.

Bloomberg article pushing Peak Oil and also Peak Infernal Combustion Engine (ICE) resulting in Peak Oil. Apparently Covid has driven the trend to EVs and less oil use with EV sales bucking the trend and rising while ICE sales have plummeted during the pandemic.

Australia is giving subsidies to its three remaining oil refineries to keep them open for the purpose of "fuel security", presumably on the assumption that it is better to refine the black stuff in country than have it subject to the vagaries of a third country which does the refining for you. Australia is well past its own production peak in oil.
