Occupied

Can I recommend this fast paced Norwegian pot boiler on Netflix for anybody seeking distraction from COVID, Trump and Brexit!

"The series depicts a fictional near future in which, due to catastrophic environmental events, Norway's Prime Minister has stopped the country's oil and gas production. Russia, with support from the European Union, occupies Norway to restore its oil and gas production, in response to a Europe-wide energy crisis.|

Why would Russia (world's second biggest exporter of oil) invade Norway (Europe's biggest exporter of oil) in order to re-instate production from a major competitor? Russia would love the price of oil to rise in and global energy crisis in the Western powers. In reality the CIA would instigate a coup by a little known neofascist Norwegian movement who promise to kick out all the non white migrants and divide the national wealth fund among all true Norwegians,

This is a Norwegian programme made by Norwegians so maybe they suspect something about
Russian oil reserves and intentions that we don't. With all the money they have made from North Sea oil
and gas, as a country they are as rich as trolls and with their huge hydro supply are scarcely in need of much oil
or gas themselves. I think it is more a moral fable about the sort of forces, active and latent, against change that can emerge if anyone
tries to get off the fossil merry go round. The word quisling is never mentioned but is never far from the surface.

Despite a number of misgivings, with a soft spot for many, but not all things Norwegian, I still find it a great yarn.
