Thanks for all that, Steve. I'll save it for later on this evening when I want to go to sleep!

More and more people are wearing masks outside. Even in the countryside, not near anybody else. In cars, even if they're the only one in it. Do they think it's floating about, or something?

Omg omg omg.

Hospitals must be getting full again. Omg omg omg!

And if they hadn't done any thing you would be complaining, Snail, when the NHS collapsed under the strain. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I saw a very interesting explanation of the reason for the low death rate in Africa.

The median age in Europe is 42
This median age in Africa is 19.

OK a thought after watching and contemplating the Sunday news shows. One the CEO of Pfizer thinks his company's vaccine will be ready about November 1st. but then needs government review and approval before distribution and they are building stockpiles to get it out ASAP. Next the NBC talking head say's it will be distributed slowly with medical staff and the most vulnerable getting it first and then if no problems become apparent on to the next priority groups etc. Then they have a CEO of American airlines (I think) talking about it being late 2021 or 2022 before they get back to normal if at all.
My thought was once they get all the staff and nursing home patients vaccinated the airlines should bring out a check your bag and get your shot program where every passenger and crew member is vaccinated before the plane takes off. Considering that most passengers fly back eventually in a few weeks you could have all the frequent flyers. and the crews protected and all you would have to worry about is the first time flyers. Also the receiving business and vacation destinations would soon know all the arrivals had been vaccinated. No Mask no ride will become no shot no ticket.

I see all of this coerced/forced vaccination shit is being normalized here and elsewhere.

I will not be vaccinated for Covid 19. I will kill or be killed first. I am deadly serious. If any of you want or consider you need to get vaccinated, get vaccinated. If your vaccine works, you have nothing to fear by me not getting one, right?

Indeed, as I discussed in this thread back in the spring. :)

So, the vast majority of people do not get seriously ill, do not need a vaccine, did not need to have their civil liberties curtailed and, as a consequence, would have been far better contracting the virus, recovering and developing, at the very very least, partial immunity to any new strain that comes along and, in turn, providing herd immunity protection to the tiny minority of people who needed to avoid contracting this virus at all.

Rightho...

Oh no... wait.... what does that do the other establishment, Covid19 propaganda narrative that states we must protect the little children because they are all going to die of Kawasaki disease otherwise?

You buggers really are educated morons. All of which is an exquisite demonstration of something else.

As it happens, I come from an academically humble family background being the only one in my family with a degree. I have consequently mingled with many people with very high IQs and high level qualifications at university and went on to work for a number of years in the educational sector where I met and worked alongside people who came from highly academic family backgrounds.

I can state, categorically, that the incidence of stupidity in my academic circles of acquaintances and the incidence of stupidity in my non academic circle of acquaintances is identical. In other words, intelligence and wisdom have no straight line relationship to one another. And by God that is demonstrated here in spades.

But, it's worse than that even. At least "uneducated" working class people will call out a dumb fucker when they see one. "Educated" middle class types, however, being educated, suffer from the delusion that their education precludes any possibility that they might actually be stupid.

And there is nothing more ridiculous and dangerous in equal measure than an educated fool who doesn't understand they are a fool.

Should that not be Education and wisdom not intelligence and wisdom?

We are being played by the media.
For example there is this story today:
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/13/coronav ... tates.html

Coronavirus cases are growing in 11 U.S. states as Fauci warns of ‘disturbing’ data
Think about it a minute,,, if cases are going up in 11 states then they are stable or going down in 39 Right?
But no their first paragraphs are all alarm.
Coronavirus cases continued to grow over the weekend in nearly a dozen U.S. states as Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, warns about the nation’s worrying level of new infections.

Covid-19 cases were growing by 5% or more, based on a weekly average to smooth out daily reporting, in 11 states as of Sunday, according to a CNBC analysis of data collected by Johns Hopkins University, an increase from eight states on Friday.

The states were Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Wisconsin hit a record high in its average of daily new cases, reporting 1,353 new infections, a roughly 32% increase from a week ago, the Hopkins data shows. Kansas and Montana both hit record highs for new deaths.

Only in the forth paragraph do they tell the actual good news then in the fifth deny that it is good news.
While cases are growing in 11 states, the overall daily average of new cases in the U.S. is declining. Over the past seven days, the country has reported an average of about 34,300 new cases per day, down more than 15% compared with a week ago, according to a CNBC analysis of Hopkins data. That’s far lower than the roughly 70,000 new cases a day the U.S. was reporting weeks ago.

Still, the 34,300 new cases a day is alarmingly high, infectious disease experts say, and U.S. health officials fear the outbreak could get worse as the nation enters the fall and winter seasons. Health officials have repeatedly warned that they are preparing to battle two bad viruses circulating later this year as the coronavirus outbreak runs into flu season. Earlier this month, Fauci said daily new cases were “unacceptably high this close to fall.

All the news printed to fit.

No, I literally do mean intelligence. Or, at least, perhaps I should have stated I am equating "intelligence" with "IQ".

So, to rephrase, a high IQ will afford, where the opportunity is available, a high level of academic qualifications. But, notwithstanding the cognitive problems associated with a very low IQ, wisdom runs independently of IQ and concomitant qualifications.

I'll have to disagree with you there. You are born with your IQ and as long as it is not destroyed by physical deprivation you will keep it for life with or without education. We do not educate only those with High IQs so those holding degrees are a random sample of the population and IQs. The person with a high IQ will gain wisdom from his education those with low IQs will not. The uneducated denied an education will gain wisdom and common sense from their life experiences while their less intelligent coworkers will not. The friction comes in when a smart worker gets a dumb boss with a degree that was a waste of an education.

I am saying, categorically, a high IQ does not preclude dumb-fuckery. I can say this because I have worked alongside people with high IQ's who were also as dumb as F--k. Similarly, I have worked alongside people of average IQ or, even, relatively low IQ with few qualifications, who were as wise as they come.

IQ and wisdom are not straight line related except insofar as a wise person with a high IQ will tend to be exceptionally wise, whereas a fool with with a low IQ will tend to be exceptionally foolish. But, this also means that a person with a high IQ, who is a fool, is in a position to do immense damage on the back of their foolishness because of that high IQ, whereas a person with a low IQ who is a fool, has only a limited capacity for doing damage on the back of their foolishness because of that low IQ.

IQ merely amplifies these other traits. Good or bad.
