I had a letter from the NHS asking me to take part in a random test and survey. I took the swab test and received the results early this week. It was negative and i also had a covering letter explaining the result , that no virus was detected but it "does not show whether you had the covid-19 virus before the swab test was completed ". It added that a negstive test is not 100% conclusive.
I discussed the test with a friend and we came to the conclusion that it was of very limited use . It showed i was uninfected on that day in the same way an mot test shows a car is roadworthy on the day of the test.

The article fails to mention the six countries with higher per capita death rates including the UK and as this is still a work in progress it remains to be seen what the final rankings will be. As to the economic impact, no country with the EU as a trading partner could escape totally from the economic downturn caused by the EU's members lockdowns.
It is a bit early to declare winners and losers in this struggle.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I went into a shop today wearing a face covering but go so angry I walked out without buying anything. I was fine going into the shop wearing it, so it wasnt anxiety-induced or anything, but seeing all the people wearing masks triggered it.

It was only for a tin of varnish in b&m.

Then you get back home, turn on the news, and see that families are still being hindered from visiting relatives in care homes.

Ffs, there's no need to panic anymore! If hardly any people has it, then there's hardly any people breathing it out. It doesn't make medical sense to force people to wear something now, when for the past 4 months people have been visiting busy supermarkets clear-faced. Which is why I got so angry I guess, I know its a pointless gesture, you know its a pointless gesture. But we're all doing it. Like a school-child.

The scary bit is what's next.

I'm still wearing mine when in shops and indoor public spaces.

The sooner we get the virus to R 0.2 then maybe i'll stop wearing it in public. But wearing one is a small cost, if it reopens the economy sooner.

Plus I have elderly parents living next door, so don't want to bring the virus to them.

Wearing face masks is just the core of good sense.

If I don't pass it on, then the five people in the shop don't pass it on, and those five in the shop don't pass it on to another 25 people they meet that day who then don't pass it on to ........ Nassim Taleb says it much better than me:

So, I take it you have forgotten about the WHO's declaration, around a month ago, that asymptomatic transmission is "very rare".

Ah thats better; be like me little john. This coronavirus is deadly, and super-easy to catch. It's so deadly, any indirect consequences are completely worth it.

The mask-thing? I'm so over that. If it allows Scotland to completely eliminate the virus, then why grumble? There's loads of evidence for mask-use. Lots of scientists and people in the know saying we must wear them or else. Can't believe I got so emotional about it.

Eyes are really expressive too. I'll need to wear my glasses to see them properly, but eyes are windows to the soul.

And masks are so trendy now. And pretty. I could get a tartan one, like someone else. Or one with a cool design. Or a slogan - blm alba!.

I'm saving peoples lives wearing one! Like a nhs hero. A battler of deadly diseases. I'd be part of the solution. Scotland free and safe from this deadly scourge. I'll need a Facebook account to post selfies of myself. Tiktok for videos? Need to look into that.
