There is probably quite a difference in the time required based on level of dress. Sitting on a beach in swim trunks is far from a farm worker with just forearms and face exposed and the face under a hat brim.
Back to the topic for a moment.
Daily deaths in both the USA and the UK continued to decline in spite of the surge in reported cases in the USA. The US had 607/ day while the UK suffered 98/day.
The surge in US cases is over two weeks old and causing quite a bit of official panic so this weeks decline is a bit surprising. Of course it was a holiday week in the US so next Tuesday's numbers may well show a surge of deaths which is really just a reporting lag.

We will see if the elderly with health issues choose to stay out of the pubs. Some US states have a head start on this and reported case numbers are soaring with some increases in hospitalization rates but not deaths as of yet. The death rate for young /healthy people is low so even if large numbers of them get infected it might not bump up the overall death rate but I wonder about young smokers and how they will fair?PS_RalphW wrote:Reports that the opening of pups has not been met with universal social distancing. With the US buying the entire stock of whichever anti covid drug it was, the expensive one, luckily, they should be able to avoid some of the deaths. apparently it saves you from four extra days in hospital.

Secondly, the WHO have formally stated, about three weeks ago, that the chance of someone who is aymptomatic passing on Covid 19 is "very low". Or, at least, the did say that.
Then, a few days later, after being lent on by several governments who have enacted emergency legislation severely restricting the freedom of movement of their citizens based on the line that asymptomatic carriers are dangerous vectors for the disease, the WHO sought to "clarify" their position on asymptomatic infection of others. Which basically amounts to the WHO doing precisely the opposite of clarification and doing, instead, every thing possible to muddy what they said so that it could be interpreted in whichever way any government wanted to interpret it.

I don't think that it is incompetence that is the problem but the fact that they are governing not for the benefit of the people but for the benefit of the corporations who paid to put them where they are. According to the news Bolsonaro has got covid. I hope he is in intensive care for the 13 or 14 weeks that others suffering from"just a little cold" have suffered. I just hope that Trump gets it next although they do say that the devil looks after his own. He obviously didn't care for Bolsanaro!
