The CDC Slashed the COVID-19 Fatality Rate to a Fraction of Earlier Estimate Used to Justify Lockdowns

In March, the World Health Organization (WHO) was claiming that the fatality rate was a very high 3.4 percent.

Yet as time went on, it became increasingly clear that such high estimates were essentially meaningless because researchers had no idea how many people were actually infected with the disease. Tests were largely being conducted on those with symptoms serious enough to end up in emergency rooms or doctors' offices.

By late April, many researchers were publishing new studies showing that the number of people with the disease was actually much higher than was previously thought. Thus, it became clear that the percentage of people with the disease who died from it suddenly became much smaller.

Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released new estimates suggesting that the real fatality rate is around 0.26 percent.
Erm. I was saying this six weeks ago.
Yes, indeed you were and that fact is not lost on me UE. It looks like you may have been right.

Both Italian and Chinese doctors reporting that the virus is weakening rapidly, just as predicted earlier by our Indian scientist:

Nothing to do with the high priest controllers.

Everyone in the US is an immigrant, apart from the ~2% that are native Americans...
Some immigrants hold all the power, justice and money - some immigrants get the shitty end of the stick.....
This just highlights it, as if we didn't already know....

Everybody on the planet not born in Africa is an immigrant. Its just that a few have earlier claims to land than others

Some immigrants make really poor decisions but rather than taking responsibility for this they'd rather blame everyone else.

Fairly difficult to make rational decisions, if you've got somebody kneeling on your neck for 9 minutes ?

This wouldn't be remotely surprising. There have been millions of infections, and the virus will have been mutating towards both more virulent and less virulent forms. But we've been artificially restricting spread of the more virulent forms, because those are the ones we are more likely to notice. They'll cause more severe symptoms, so the people who've got them are more likely to self-isolate, end up isolated in hospital and have their contacts traced. Meanwhile any less virulent forms will be the ones that are more likely to not be noticed or recognised as Covid-19, and therefore free to spread.

Yes, and that would happen naturally in the absence of a lock-down.

The only people who need locking down (if they wanted it) are people who are at risk no matter what strain infects them. But, then, such people would be at high risk from any number of other illnesses/viruses prior to Covid 19 in any event. Thus, for such people, the sooner, this virus blows through the majority of the population - for whom it is largely not dangerous - the sooner that herd immunity exists in the population, in turn making it safer for at risk people to venture out again

You spectacularly failed to miss my point - which is down to you deciding to not engage with what I said (coward) or you didn't get the point I was making (stupid). So which one is it?

Sunetra Gupta: Covid-19 is on the way out

The author of the Oxford model defends her view that the virus has passed through the UK's population

It’s the biggest question in the world right now: is Covid-19 a deadly disease that only a small fraction of our populations have so far been exposed to? Or is it a much milder pandemic that a large percentage of people have already encountered and is already on its way out?

If Professor Neil Ferguson of Imperial College is the figurehead for the first opinion, then Sunetra Gupta, Professor of Theoretical Epidemiology at the University of Oxford, is the representative of the second. Her group at Oxford produced a rival model to Ferguson’s back in March which speculated that as much as 50% of the population may already have been infected and the true Infection Fatality Rate may be as low as 0.1%.
My own view is it's probably somewhere in between the two positions and nowhere near enough Ferguson's to have warranted the economy destroying, liberty stripping farce of total lock-downs we have been subjected to.

We could hardly miss your point.

To bring us (hopefully) back on to Coronavirus....
In this country there's a considerably higher proportion of BAME workers at the sharp end of this crisis....
NHS, Care Workers, Cleaners, Rubbish Collectors, Security Guards, Public Transport Workers etc...
But in your world, I guess they all just made really poor decisions...

You really are a piece of work aren't you. That is not the point he was making and you have, again, either through rank stupidity or through deliberate disingenuity, completely misrepresented the point.

80% of NHS workers are white
20% of NHS workers are non white

80% of the population is white
20% of the population is non white

The only person morbidly obsessed with race here is you.

But, then, you are a petite bourgeois liberal. So, that figures.

I've made 1,000+ posts on this forum and as far as I'm aware, this is the first time I've mentioned race, but I'm certainly not trawling back through them all to check....

In a vain attempt to stay on topic, care to comment on this ?

Ethnicity affects workers via a vis Covid 19 in the NHS in precisely the same way it affects anybody anywhere. The most likely explanation being linked to a lack of vitamin D in people with dark skin living in northern hemispheric climates.

And?

Is there anyone here you haven't accused of being petite bourgeois yet ?

Not that I consider it an insult, apparently that part of the working class is typified by shopkeepers, people who aspire to own a home or land, and probably a large proportion of people who voted Brexit.

What, exactly, have you got against the aspirational working class ?
