I hope you're going to reveal your 'lifeboat' address if it's in Almeria - that way we'll have somewhere to head when Madrid collapses (Only kidding!)Dinor wrote:I already have my 'Lifeboat' set up for my family for possible scenarios post PO.
Are you happy?

Another article which just appeared on a link over at LATOC. Neatly marries overheating 'economy' with peak oil / environmental limits and pointing out all these SUVs etc on credit are not the true path to happiness.
cheers

First post,so please be patient with me, have been peak oil aware for about 4 years.
In answer to the question, yes I am happy. There are many things I am discontented about , destruction of rain forests, political correctness ..long list, but there is little I can do to influence these things. Over many years I have learned to be content with what I have, maintain an open mind and flexibility in adapting to change, although that usually involves a good deal of whinging by me at first. However once I'm sick of the whinge I usually adapt to stuff quite well. One thing I have learned is never look back with nostalgia/affection it always involves rose tinted views for me,the second is I try to look at change as a challenge and adventure.
Doesn't stop me having the odd blue day, but I feel that sometimes I am as happy as I make my mind up to be.

Not far from you actually, North Manchester. Thanks for the welcome. Must say I admire what you've done with your place re sustainablity. A shining example it can be done in any setting. Due to illness I am not able to do too much prep work but I am trying to do what I can. A good mindset and keeping informed is always a good thing in my book.
Absolutely - and to be honest it makes me feel better knowing there's someone else around here who is aware of these issues, irrespective of solar panels etc.sister of mercy wrote:A good mindset and keeping informed is always a good thing in my book.
It's the mindset that's 90% of the solution. All else is just details.
If you're ever passing through Bury, feel free to drop in anytime, it would be good to meet a kindred soul. I'll make you a cup of low-carbon tea!
