That's OK then ... only 24 waves & lockdowns to go at 10k+ deaths per wave.

We had better hope that those meds and/or vaccines arrive Real Soon Now .. or we are looking at 240k more deaths.

Full HMG report as at 10th April
As of 9am on 10 April, 316,836 tests have concluded across the UK, with 19,116 tests carried out on 9 April. Some individuals are tested more than once for clinical reasons.

256,605 people have been tested, of whom 73,758 tested positive.

As of 5pm on 9 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 8,958 have died.
So maybe 10k deaths and 100k cases by Sunday/Monday according to my graphs.

At some point soonish the NHS capacity will start creaking.

I've just had an email through from a home shopping website that I get emails from on a regular basis offering alcohol based hand sanitiser at 60% alcohol "as recommended by Health experts" for £4.99 for an 80ml bottle or 4 for £14.97 or 250ml for £9.99 or 4 for £29.97.

The DIY stuff referred to earlier in the thread to WHO spec was 80% ethanol or 75% isopropyl alcohol.

??

Also I have no idea whether this is a good price or not although I'm not bothered about buying any myself.

Don't we only have to get to 80% for herd immunity so only 19 more waves? We don't want to exaggerate!

Maybe not all but 50,000 of us are!! That's quite a few.

According to the US Daily Kos website the BBC are telling us that we are not all in this together and that the working class are more in the firing line of the "Trump Plague" (it is aimed at an American audience) than the rich or even the middle class.

I think we had all worked that out several weeks ago but maybe not among Trump's working class support.

60% is the lowest alcohol concentration considered acceptable. Commercial products usually contain the minimum as water is cheaper than alcohol.
Very cheap products may contain 60 Chinese percent or about 50% actual.

For home made I would favour about 75% to 80% of alcohol by volume, for several reasons.
Firstly the "pure" alcohol is probably about 94% alcohol and 6% water. So a home made mixture that looks like 750ml alcohol and 250ml water, will in fact contain about 700ml of actual alcohol and 300ml of water (50ml already in the alcohol, and 250ml added by the maker)
So what sounds like a 75% concentration is only in fact 70%.

Measuring the ingredients with the crude equipment most of us have in the kitchen could easily result in the presumed 750ml of alcohol being only 700ml, and the presumed 250ml of water being in fact 300ml,.
Careful use of good quality measuring cylinders or graduated flasks in a lab can give 1% accuracy, but such results can not be expected with a kitchen measuring jug.
Alternatively one might decide not to measure the alcohol, but use one whole bottle, adjusting the other ingredients accordingly. This carries the risk that the 1000ml bottle might only contain 950ml, due to evaporation in storage or transit, or being measured in Chinese ml in the first place.

I DO have laboratory type measuring cylinders, purchased years ago for "just in case" but most of us don't.

From the same source a above here are details of a Chinese paper showing that a non symptomatic dose of Covid-19 might not confer immunity to reinfection and that the danger of that is higher in the young than the old. Older people are more likely to show higher levels of antibodies.

Good! My pension won't be entirely defunded then.
Someone told me that pension funds are often hardest hit because they are slower to react. Might be true, might not.

Also, rumour is that there are armed forces stationed in some city financial institutions. I don't know why they would be there.

A great weight on my/our shoulders

I'm feeling overloaded at the moment.

Our analysis here suggests that we are just in the first wave of doom with repeated waves ... or a permanent lockdown ... being needed until a vaccine or medication arrives.

Meanwhile 90%+ of the population seem to believe that all will be back to normal in three or four weeks.

The majority of the population also seems to have no idea of the economic problems, supply chain issues and even food supply issues we will be facing.

Does anyone else feel burdened by possibly being more aware of the true situation than the majority of people out there?

I would not say I feel burdened by the knowledge. After all I did not create the problem and there is no job or task I have to do that is more difficult with the virus present. Medical staff and first responders will of course feel much differently as they are tasked with saving lives and the virus is a powerful opponent that is winning way too often.
Little John I'm sure feels much more along that line.
