My own plan is Isolation, Zinc Supplement and Exercise. I'll try to get my lungs into good shape and lose some weight.

Any other ideas ?
I have been reading all sorts of medical PDFs lately ...

* Vit D 25ug per day might help ... but no more/no less ... it's a fine balance for it to be even a bit effective.

* Zinc also might help ... but in the form of lozenges to act as an antiviral in the upper airways if you get ill. I don't think tablets work well unless you take that old anti-malarial drug at the same time. Lozenges are hard to find so I'll try to make some from wine gums or gummi bears plus crushed pills.

* Obesity will be a key killer in the USA ... and in some parts of the UK.

* General supplements might help to correct deficiencies .. but watch that 25ug vit D limit.

* Not sure about exercise .. can't do harm I suppose.

Also:

* If you get fever don't take paracetamol too early ... the fever is killing the bugs. (Obviously if you get REALLY hot then you may need to do something).

* Drink lots of fluids.

Tonight's evening TV news seemed more doomerish than usual. Tonight was the first official admission that conditions in Italy are very bad, with 800 deaths in the last 24 hours, AND THAT UK conditions may soon resemble the present conditions in Italy.

Several well informed people on these fora have stated that the UK is a couple of weeks, or thereabouts behind Italy, but I think this was the first time that this has been on the news.

How long till a much stricter lockdown in the UK?

Tonight there will be parties all over the country, attended by people who can't go down the pub. On Monday, the kids will treat it like the first day of the summer holidays, except since everything is closed, all them will be playing together outside. Or at least more than enough them will to spread the infection to pretty much all of their parents.

Nest week a tsunami of critical patients will hit our hospitals and the panic buying will intensify. I think we're going to see a fairly severe ratcheting up of the restrictions. They are going to have to make parties illegal, and probably close the parks.

One thing ... we don't go 'all Italian' for almost two weeks so I worry that people will relax their precautions in a week or so ... unless our hospitals fail in the next day or two.

Yes, just watching the bbc news channel now. There's no attempt to hide the fact that this is rapidly spiralling out of control in multiple countries.

EDIT: this is going to get very weird - watching the news. There is only one story. Not just because it is so important, but because most of the other stuff isn't happening anymore. Currently watching "sport".

We don't watch TV news, at all (and certainly don't feel under informed as a result), however today I did. Sky News, C4 News and ITV. Wow! For those just tuning into this subject in the last week or so (most people?) these reports are incredible! Certainly not pulling punches regarding Italy, lots of first hand reports from doctors and nurses.

One thing to remember though, Italy don't lock down until around 800 deaths. UK, France and maybe others have initiated similar measures earlier around 200 deaths or sooner. We may yet come in under Italy's curve. However, the British population aren't helping. West Wales rapidly filling up with tourists!

I can't see how Johnson can hold the country together through this without some degree of social break down.

Neither can I. We already had a situation where the under-30s were effectively disenfranchised, and the people who disenfranchised them are the most likely to die from the virus. Johnson is going to be forced to being in regulations telling those people that they've got to put their social lives on hold for maybe an entire year, in order to protect the boomers.

It is very hard to see how this resolves itself.

A new politics will rise out of this. One which is more nationalistic, more geared towards self sufficiency, more "left wing/state interventionist" on the economic front, but also far more "traditionalist/conservative" on the social front

Something like a UK version of Front Nationale

Green Day was on the caravan radio
Hear the sound of the falling rain
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (hey!)
A shame
The ones who died without a name
Hear the dogs howlin' out of key
To a hymn called faith and misery (hey!)
And bleed, the company lost the war today

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday
