They are beginning to bring out the bad news now.
Between 160 million and 214 million people in the U.S. could be infected over the course of the epidemic, according to one projection. That could last months or even over a year, with infections concentrated in shorter periods, staggered across time in different communities, experts said. As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die.

And, the calculations based on the C.D.C.’s scenarios suggested, 2.4 million to 21 million people in the U.S. could require hospitalization, potentially crushing the nation’s medical system, which has only about 925,000 staffed hospital beds. Fewer than a tenth of those are for people who are critically ill.

I am in precisely this situation. My mother went into a nursing home last week. Has dementia and a leg ulcer that has been getting worse for 2 years. She has savings that will pay for about 8 months of care, and a house worth about £500K.

We saw her yesterday, maybe for the last time.

So sorry to hear that.
Regarding the house, it is presumably empty and therefore vulnerable to burglars or squatters. You may need to arrange extra insurance cover against such.
Most household insurance is void if the property is empty for more 28 days, or one month.
Hopefully you, or someone else sensible has power of attorney ? Anyone elderly, with dementia, and owning property is vulnerable to various scams and frauds.

We've cancelled another event. Total personal cost to us is now at least £700 in lost income.

Same here - found some expensive posh stuff in a farm shop.

Luckily it's the only key thing we forgot.

My company has just sent this to all clients and everyone on the e-mail list.

We have been monitoring and reviewing the current situation and have decided to put in place specific social distancing measures as advised by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in order to manage the resulting risks and mitigate the risk of spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

This includes cancellation of non-essential travel and suspension of all visits to customer sites with immediate effect, until further notice. Wherever possible, we are offering customer meetings to be "online" rather than face-to-face.

That was the idea in 2008.

You bailed the Buy-To-Let landlords, via tax payer bank bailouts.

They thank you very much.

BTW, i would love to see the BTLer's trashed, it should have happened 12 years ago.

That's how capitalism works.

The World Health Organisation has acknowledged that the crisis is generating stress,
Is it really? Hadn't noticed personally. <sound of maniacal laughter>

New Dr Campbell video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYTFk34nhoI

He fully supports the Boris action plan .. you know, the one which contains no actions.

Dr Campbell seems to totally respect his betters.

One thing : exactly what was done in the now passed 'containment phase'?

Being an executor at the moment, I can confirm there is specialist insurance for unoccupied houses. Essentially buildings cover, due to the house being cleared right down to floorboards.
When you're dealing with exponential growth, the time to act is when it feels too early.

Perhaps he's prioritising continuing to broadcast his good info when it really counts, over having digs at the Powers That Be, only to get shut down for dissent by the Digital Police State.
