I've engaged with 111 half a dozen times over the last 5 years - complete waste of time each time. The human you talk to is little more than a human scripted bot. They have no information that can't be found on-line. I wouldn't expect any useful service from 111.

So how can you get into a hospital bed if you have pneumonia?

I have been waking up at about 04-00 with a desire to look at the news on line, after which I can go back to sleep.

I must admit to a certain amount of interest in what my neighbours are up to in the early hours. There seems to be a lot of near silent coming and going overnight.
I think that discreet doom preparations might be under way. A certain amount of muffled hollow metallic clanking can be heard, fuel drums? oxygen cylinders? propane cylinders? metal beer barrels? or something similar sounding.
Also odd dull thuds that sounds a bit like sacks of something heavy being unloaded. Grain? coal? fertiliser? wood chip fuel? animal feed?

Attend the nearest large football match or race meeting, and the St John's ambulance volunteers in attendance will usually be happy to rush you in.

Turn up at A&E (against advice).

Will China lose its place in the sun?

I can imagine that when the smoke clears many firms will set up second source suppliers outside China.

China may become the place where the dumb f*****s eat bug-ridden bats.

China's standing in the world I suspect will be reduced.

Why should we be happy buying cheap tat if the price is world wide pandemics?

You have got to be kidding ..

Virus could kill half a million Britons and infect 80% of UK, leaked document suggests

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/heal ... 59521.html

and

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/c ... t-21578658

This is one way of solving the current care home and dementia home crisis.

Seriously, can you imagine what the virus would do to a care home? I would expect maybe 50%+ of the residents to die pretty promptly.

Boomers on this forum, make your will NOW!

Prices of houses will fall .. many will soon be empty.

The latest in fear-porn. This type of prediction is often trotted out when some outlet writes a headline about disease. Next there is the “but we are working on a vaccine Hooray! “But it will not be ready for a few years. Boo!

Meanwhile the Chinese have just shifted 50 tons of vitamin C into Hubei province. That’s the most helpful action in this whole farce so far. It’s a pity the UK government doesn’t do something sensible too, instead of coming ut with ridiculous suggestions to “self isolate.

How so? We've known for a couple of weeks these are the plausible numbers, and that this is we week awareness goes mainstream.

Half the point of a forum like this is to be a step ahead of mainstream media, such *breaking news* shouldn't phase us.

I actually ordered some high dose vitamin c last night. I was going to ages ago, never bothered as I eat relatively healthy, but decided why not now. It cost hardly anything.
I've read a bit about vit c so its not as if I'm just blindly following woodburner, expecting myself to now be shielded etc.

Have to agree with the fear-porn, and the ridiculous suggestions about self-isolation.

I know of one CDC employee that has stockpiled a months worth of food in their apartment to allow extended telecommute work sessions if and when that becomes the proper thing to do. Should any of us be doing any less?
