Another rush PV install

I have just done a rush battery charging PV install, for a neighbour.

Speed was considered more important than price, with all major components ordered from RS components for next day delivery.

Brief specifications.

6 modules, each 200 watts.
MPPT charge controllers.
12 volt lead acid battery bank, 900 AH.
3Kw inverter
12 volt fuse board, 6 way.

I have gotten too old and fat to climb on roofs, a local builder did the physical mounting of the modules, this being combined with renewal of a roof.

Loads include high efficiency DC fridge and freezer, TV, lighting, oxygen concentrator, and oil burning central heating.

(this was for a recently retired doctor and is in response to the corona virus epidemic. I have their permission to post technical details, but nothing that could identify them.)

I think it's pretty much inevitable that within a ~month, there's going to significant supply chain disruption for many 'made in china' goods.

Indeed, and probably quicker than a month in my view.
Imported goods that are already in the UK should be unaffected, BUT might become rapidly depleted due to panic buying.

Goods already in transit likewise.

A classmate of mine ('73) fell from his roof while clearing snow off his solar panels breaking hip, arm and shoulder. Home alone he lay in the snow quite a while until the ambulance crew pulled into the town garage across the street to fuel up and heard his yells for help. He is still in a long term recovery center healing up. Take care.
As to the supply problem we should take this as a warning call and reduce our dependence of essential supplies not made in country. Saving a few buck is not justification for total dependence on a potential enemy.
