Upon checking, I see that have exaggerated. Only three out of eight.

FFS, you think face masks will do any good? You are going to be disappointed if you do. Unless you are a face mask manufacturer, then you will be quids in.

Hahaha... Indeed! They will lord it over the sad remains of civilisation. With their token wealth.

Whatever. It's good for stopping surface fomite to hand to mouth transmission. That's why even a builder's mask is better than nowt. Granted, the airborne viruses will still be inhaled.

If this virus was plausibly containable then maybe such measures make some sense. But, since it clearly is not and, given it is likely to be ciorculating for years if not forever, then bollocks to it I say. Just eat well, get plenty of sleep, maybe invest in some oxygen and some anti- inflamatories and then get on with living.

That's what I intend to do.

What with being in the more vulnerable population, and avoidant anyway, I'm content with my modest Hard Biscuit / Pandemic preps. I can remain in my splendid near-isolation, and compare notes with non-meatspace, non-virulent, like-minded PowerSwitch folks.

It's All Good. As Jim Kunstler would say.

Must go see what he and the Archdruid make of all this malarkey. I saw only yesterday on YT that Chris Martenson views it as another Peak Prosperity commercial opportunity. Cornering facemask futures, maybe.

On the oxygen point, does it make more sense to buy an oxygen concentrater? They can deliver about 6 litres per minute indefinitely as long as you have electricity, and if that's gone we have bigger problems anyway.

Yes and no, from what I have read.

Yes, from the point of view that, once you have a concentrator, you never need to worry about a bottleneck in terms of oxygen supply

No form the point of view that:

1) concentrators typically push out 5 litres per minute at most. Whilst suitable in most circumstances, I have read that in the case of acute pneumonia, anything up to 10 litres per minute might be required

2) concentrators are very expensive compared to simply getting hold of a bottle of welding oxygen, a pressure gauge, flow meter and mask

Then again, if you were requiring 10 litres per minute, bottled oxygen would get very expensive very quickly and so a concentrator might be cheaper overall. Plus, I wonder if you could use two concentrators in parallel to provide 10 litres per minute combined if required. I don't see any reason why not in principle.

Turns out you can, indeed, hook up two concentrators in parallel.

Also, you can get refurbished second hand for under 350. So, not too bad.

Yes, I've seen it done. I've seen them at 6 or 7 litres/min, though they probably cost more.

In the Pandemic - induced Societal Collapse, burglars would soon steal both of your by then highly prized concentrators. I've heard all about Oxygen Thieves.

Maybe they would maybe they wouldn't I don't really know how to respond to that kind of speculation. Except to say that there are three kinds of people. Those who take what's not theirs. Those who can't hold onto what's theirs and those that can. Obviously, that is a rule of thumb as opposed to a law of nature. But, mostly it comes down to what you are prepared to do. I already know what I am prepared to do. It's the way I was brought up. I guess what I am trying to say is that the consideration that someone might try and steal my stuff at any point for any reason is not something I am unaware of. It just doesn't dictate what I choose to own.

Oxygen Thief - Urban Dictionary
A person so useless on this planet that the mere fact of them breathing is a waste of oxygen.

Why would you want to stop inflammation?
Because the body can have too much of a good thing if it reacts too strongly to a given pathogen. Generally speaking that is not the case and anti inflammatory drugs are used too often as a result. However, there are occasions when they are useful. Acute pneumonia being one example. Do you need me to explain why?
