People with the money see that they can make more money through government research grants by providing an answer to things like a meteor strike, not sure about flood basalts, but when climate change is bought up all they see is a huge loss so they lobby government and the GOP and sow seeds of doubt in the general public to avoid losing their money. Much of the general public will go along with the doubt, because they don't really like change, until something happens to them to make them change their minds.

Whether or not the fires in Australia will have any effect on the US general public we will have to see but hopefully they will be enough to convince the Australian public that voting for ScuMo next time will not be a good idea.

There is a theory that you only have to get a small percentage of the population onside to get something done, less than 20% I think it is. The rest just go along with whatever is decided. The problem is the 0.1% who own government and control the narative, especially in the US.
