Sounds pretty official when its the CEO telling you.PS_RalphW wrote:I am 'working' in an air conditioned office having driven here in my air conditioned (electric) car.
'working' because a couple of weeks ago our CEO collected the IT team together and told us we were all going to be made redundant in September and to start looking for jobs now. Unofficially.
We (used to have ) employment rights, that set out formal processes that had to be followed when making people redundant. Putting things in writing comes close to the top of the list. TBH I am not particularly surprised at being made redundant, the new CEO has made some financially expensive bad choices and my role was always a bit hard to justify in a small organisation. However, the CEO justified sacking the lot of us on the back of an external review of IT that the trustees paid for, and we could not see. I heave read that review and she was lying through her teeth.
Sorry for being OT. just passed 30C outdie.

I wonder if the new CEO was there because she was the best at what she did but because she was a she?PS_RalphW wrote:We (used to have ) employment rights, that set out formal processes that had to be followed when making people redundant. 30C! The cool of the evening during the summer, when everyone piles outside to enjoy the evening. Admittedly, we've only had 1 38C day so far this year, but plenty of 33-34C days.PS_RalphW wrote:We (used to have ) employment rights, that set out formal processes that had to be followed when making people redundant. The A/C usually goes on around 28C, I'll admit.

I have had to resort to air conditioning, regrettably due to the electricity consumed and the noise produced.
Living room reached 28 degrees, dropped to 24 and with much lower humidity with air conditioner in use.
