If you haven't seen this yet, do so.

There are around a dozen empty properties in this country for every homeless woman, man and child in Ireland.

Some estimated the cost of the pope’s visit to Ireland was between €20 million and €30 million; likewise it’s difficult to get exact figures for taxpayer costs of Eric Trump’s visits to Doonbeg golf course in the west of Ireland. The Trumpeter himself is supposed to visit soon too; no doubt he’ll have public money showered over him as well.

The Irish government are very grateful for the low-paid work these buffoons provide for our Polish visitors.

Evictions are happening as I type this.

The Remoaners will be blaming it on Brexit. The more these gambler banks contract the better as far as I'm concerned, especially from London so that we're not in the firing line for bail outs.

Pretty hard to see how this could be proved to be linked to Brexit, Ken, but, by judging some of the questionable social media posts by pre-Remain groups, they probably will.

With Deutsche Bank I believe that Basel III agreement of bail ins is the de facto first stage whereby the onus will fall on the shareholders and bondholders. However, the losses arising would rapidly dwarf anything that said share and bondholders could muster. Which will then threaten the whole of the European Banking system.

Naked Capitalism takes the view that Deutsche Bank is going to die a death of a thousand cuts, which may prove to be the best strategy.

A "challenger" bank is on the ropes - I presume the term "challenger bank" relates to the systemic challenges they create when they go bust

Wolf Street: Metro Bank teeters after failed bond sale: shares dive by 95%
The main trigger for this week’s rout was the bank’s failure on Monday to raise a much-needed £250 million by issuing non-preferred bonds that deeply skeptical investors spurned. Despite trying to lure buyers with an interest rate of 7.5%, double the rate of similar offerings, Metro only attracted £175 million worth of orders, prompting the embattled lender to pull the plug on the bond sale.

“Failure to get enough support for a product that is yielding 7.5% is quite remarkable when you consider how investors are struggling to find generous levels of income in the current market, said Russ Mould, the investment director of AJ Bell. “It suggests that investors don’t trust the bank or they believe the 7.5% yield is simply not high enough to compensate for the risks of owning such a product.
Metro Bank is toast

I looked at this and thought "RT doing a stitch up job on the British banking system to cover for the horrendous goings on in Russia." I then watched it and Anthony Stansfield, who I have met quite a few times as we are fellow members of the West Berkshire Conservative Association and he is a former West Berks councillor, was leading the charge! So, firstly, apologies to RT and, secondly, this is just another part of The Prostitute State and yet another pointer to the corruption at the heart of all governments. It is not the politicians as such, although they are guilty of negligence and turning a blind eye, but, as Stansfield says, it is the top echelons of the civil service and the companies and partnerships that they share their future with.

Another thing to bring up with my new top lawyer MP. She's going to be sick of the sight and sound of me before too long.

Perhaps you could devise a strategy that makes her an allay rather then a politician that has to blow you off because you have badgered her beyond reason.

I intend to badger her to the point of reason, VT, not beyond it. ;-)

Sounds as if N26 hadn't bothered to get a UK banking license or form a UK subsidiary like banks such as Triodos have done. Perhaps they just aren't committed to trading in the UK.

This looks like large scale money laundering.

It's one self-created nightmare after another for HSBC. They were my worst ever investing decision, but at least I got out some months ago.
