Recent Speech by Head of Saudi Aramco

While oil demand is expected to rise from 85 million barrels a day to 120 million barrels a day by 2030, Jum'ah said global oil reserves are plentiful. Between proven reserves and expected new fields, there should be enough oil to provide 140 years' supply at today's consumption rates.

Jum'ah said that proven conventional oil reserves total 1.2 trillion barrels and proven unconventional reserves 1.5 trillion barrels. He estimated another 2 trillion barrels are available to be discovered.

"There's enough oil to meet the world's needs for many decades to come," Jum'ah said.

The huge state of Bahrain :) has found loads more oil!

Wow, if only something like that could happen in the North Sea...Milton Keynes could carry on the lifestyle it's become accustomed to :-)

Errrm, why not? I actually almost moved there once whilst looking for work during the recession at the start of the 90s. I used to live in Aylesbury so MK has a special place in my heart :-)

Ehm I don't think so. SA sounds like wishful thinking. Bahrain hasn't found any new oil, its just extracting the oil it has already found.

How about drilling for oil in Milton Keynes and leaving the fish in the North Sea alone?
