But being able to portray a certain target group as being somehow immoral or crazy makes it all the easier to then take away all their stuff. After all, how is theft against a bad/mad person such a bad thing to do?

It is an old strategy. First demonize the group and convince the mob that the target is the root cause of all their problems. Then you can seize their assets "For the good of all" and send them off to the work camps and gas chambers.
Different century, different group of demons, same old plan.

Like the Kleptocracy do with "the lazy, good for nothing unemployed" that they have put out of work in the interests of efficiency and their increased profits?

Yes, in the UK it's possible to go from being a productive member of society to "workshy, scrounging dolescum in about a week. VT, it might be worth watching the film I Daniel Blake for an insight into how things work in the UK when you fall on hard times.

I'm not worried about the billionaires being put out on the street.
And on Ken's counter argument even the kleptocrates don't want to make too many people destitute. After all those little guys are the paying customers that have paid them their billions one sale at a time.

It's possible to do the same in the US. All you have to do is to lose your job and have an accident/get sick and you can be broke, with no house and no means of upkeep at all. Ah!! the American Dream/Nightmare.

An American in that situation would qualify for social security disability payments. Most of our homeless have serious mental health issues or drug problems (often both) or are the children of same.

I vaguely remember that the rich are NOT a fixed population ... they are always with us ... but the members of that group come and go.
