Thus, the northern Barents Sea may soon complete the transition from a cold Arctic to a warm and well-mixed Atlantic dominated climate regime. In fact, the entire Barents Sea will be ice-free year-around.

With all the political and economic stuff going on recently, it's worth remembering climate change is and will be dramatically more impactful... oh and peak oil, remember that? Today's challenges will be long forgotten soon.

Prediction:

July 2018 hottest July on record
August 2018 wettest August on record

certainly for Ireland.

Maybe it should read:

July 2018 most extreme July weather on record
August 2018 most extreme August weather on record

I hadn't looked at the Arctic sea ice extent for ages but I see that it is tracking below every thing except 2012. On trend for none in summer soon (geologically speaking!!)

Antarctic is low as well.
