Good to have you back, xenophobia is going to be major part of peak oil "ecosystem" so as we consider energy, agriculture, transport etc, we also need to consider how to address the xenophobic tendencies that are sure to rise. See BNP.

Here here.
Personally I regard the *** as so repugnant I don't even like looking at those three letters. Should be treated in the same way as the name of the Scottish Play.

Good that you are back.

How come you are now 'Aurora' and not, say, Omega3.1? :)

Perhaps it should have been 'Vista'!

Anyway, please accept my thanks for all of your warm comments about my 'return' from the wilderness. :)

I absolutely abhor racism. We live in a small world. One world. Nice to find that so many other people really DO care. :)

After reading some of the recent xenophobic and bigoted replies to a number of the threads on this forum and the lack of apparent condemnation from others, I had begun to have serious misgivings about my interest in remaining a member.

On Sunday, I asked Mike Peplar to remove my details from the PowerSwitch database.

However, as a guest over the last couple of days, I have noticed that many of you DO share my revulsion for racist comments.

I was wrong to leave. I live and breathe 'Peak Oil' (for my sins) and feel that I DO have a valid contribution to make.

I would therefore like to rejoin the forum and engage in the debate with Andy Hunt, Adam1, Mike, Sally, Tess, Pippa, Vortex, Ian, Erik, XENG and Mean Mr. M. etc..

If you'll have me back - great.

If not, please ask Mike to remove my new details. I await your replies.
So what is this? You throw a tantrum and leave, then come back and assume that's a good excuse to print out a list of those you consider to be acceptable posters? Are we to assume that if our names aren't on the list we have been branded as racist? I've already taken issue with this on another thread.

This used to be an excellent forum, but lately people are becoming very judgemental and deciding who has acceptable views or not. I think I'll look elsewhere for a forum to discuss Peak Oil issues.

Sorry if my rant makes me sound like some kind of a 'prima donna'. That was not my intention. Any names mentioned on the 'list' were taken at random from the main contributors to the forum. If your name is missing, please accept my apology.

I'm not having a fit of pique because my name isn't on the list. I just don't feel it's right for people to be "judging" (I might be wrong but that's how I perceive it) who holds acceptable views or not.

It's good that you decided to come back and for what it's worth, I totally share your views on racism.

The point isn't (or shouldn't be) so much about personal judgements but about racism and xenophobia - it does exist, peak oil will exacerbate it, it should not be ignored in the hope that it will go away and we all need to recognise it as another symptom of the peak oil problem.

My hope is that the issue can be explored without personal attacks that get us absolutely nowhere.

Writing is very difficult (in my opinion), so one dimensional. I for one find it really hard to get across what I am trying to say; there have been many times when I have tried to post and just given up as the words look just so stupid on the page.

I am pretty sensitive to hurting peoples feelings; mainly because it isn't usually my intention but never the less I'm pretty good at it!!!!

If we were all to meet up in a room (like the London/Bristol) pub meets there would probably be a little less contraversy as the words would be a constant stream just dissapearing into the ether and we would all have body language, faces and other people interacting at the same time to dilute our thoughts.

I know that I have sometimes thought I particularly like the viewpoint of a number of the posters here on powerswitch. It is human nature to aline ourselves with like minded people, it's what we search for in friends and why I like village life (principally getting to know people better) and others prefer town which is generally more transitory. At the same time, however, I have come to like and respect other people more and more as I have got to know them. It's great to be able to have a change of mind and one of the qualities which help us all to learn.

When I came down to London for the Climate Change rally I hoped to meet as many PS folks as possible. Sorry to name names but I was really dissapointed not to meet Tess (who had said she would be there but had in fact left earlier in the day) but glad to meet all the other PS folks who made it. I was even pleased to meet Bandidioz, who said in passing that he found some of my posts rather strange and somewhat pointless (or something to that effect)!!!!!!!!!   Only joking honest - in actual fact I agree with him. 8)

For what it's worth I love all the arguments and difficult folks. Anyway, the whole subject we post about is just so mind blowing, depressing, shocking etc I would be suprised if most people haven't got the stomache for it (or those who appear to represent the opposing view) from time to time. I have definately considered deleting myself from this place 'cause I GET SO ANGRY AND UPSET WITH THINGS, MYSELF, THE WORLD, OUR FUTURES ETC ETC.

I actually rather like difficult, opinionated, emotional people. Lets be hear and be listened to. Long live the glorious technicolour of lively debate and a virtual glass to the marvellous thought that, in any case, we're ALL going to be wrong.
