Merits of reintroduction of locally extinct wildlife

How will oil depletion affect the way we live? What will the economic impact be? How will agriculture change? Will we thrive or merely survive?

I can leave my desk right now ,drive twenty miles to the gun shop or Walmart, pick out a new rifle , get background checked etc. and be home with it and ammo for it in about an hour or hour and a half. Your UK farmer probably can't get one in under a month.

With the result that gun crime and the number of people killed by nutters with guns is a fraction if what it is in the US. Most farmers that I know are quite happy with that situation.

If you have a very urgent situation that requires something shooting a quick phone call will get someone who can around in very short time.

While ambulance and fire trucks can reach my home in ten to fifteen minutes depending on travel conditions the police force that answers 911 calls is a good half hour away. That is not a short time if you are the one being assaulted.
I realize most UK citizens are quite content with your gun laws and don't expect to ever change any opinion on the subject.
On the other hand I was raised to be proud of my ability to defend myself and my community when needed and would be embarrassed in the extreme if I had to cower in a corner and wait for the cops to come bail me out.
Agree to disagree as it were.

Yes.

CAP reform to encourage organic tillage and compensate any livestock farmers who wind up their business. Re-introduce wildlife. Partial utopia.

That's seriously why I am thankful to live in the country, where this isn't possible.

Just when I imagine how many frustrated people are out there...it would be super scary, if they could get guns so easily.

Might it not be a better strategy to consider reducing the amount of frustration in society rather than the frustrated going on mass random killing sprees? Otherwise one must assume that such collateral damage is considered a small price to pay for the benefit of those shareholders of the the arms manufacturers.

Every American benefits from our freedom and the stability of that freedom provided by citizen ownership of firearms not just the stockholders of the arms manufacturers. Even the citizens of the UK have benefited a time or two by the USA sending over a couple of million trained marksmen when your hours were dark indeed.

Of course, and quite right too. Like the freedom to have your children forcibly vaccinated. The freedom to be required to be vaccinated before recieving any state benefits. The freedom to be required to be vaccinated if you work in a hospital. The freedom to have fluoride added to municiple water supplies, where the dose anyone receives is totally uncontrolled. How many other freedoms are there that require the citizens to be subjected to non-optional treatments?

Yep, the US is certainly a land of freedoms, NOT!!!

I've always been a bit perplexed by this fiction of 'American Freedom'. I was talking to a chap from Florida just they week about how it's illegal to have your own off-grid PV system in the state!? Bonkers. Then there's that thing about jaywalking. Seriously, your government isn't happy to give you the freedom to cross the road wherever you deem safe to do so?

But hey!, They are free to blow each other to kingdom with their over stocked arsenals. Surely that must count for something?

You guys are biting on a lot of fake news.
Dense urban areas of course have rules that allow people to live in close proximity to each other. Jay walking restrictions. Water and sewer bills with minimums even if you use none etc. And would you want to go to a hospital where the workers were not vaccinated against the things that are trying to kill you? But much of rural America is free of all this including many areas where religious exceptions leave children un vaccinated.
Please understand that your perceptions about conditions in the USA are at least as far off as my perceptions about conditions in the UK.

Please understand that your perceptions about conditions in the USA are a function of a lifetime of indoctrination whereas we have access to and a lack of indoctrinated aversion to objective world stats on things as diverse as health, social and materials infrastructure

Would you like me to cite some?

1) I would not want to go to a hospital
2) I would not want the workers to be vaccinated as it confers no natural immunity, and actually turns them into disease centres. They then shed the pathogens with which they have been innoculated.
3) The pathogens are not trying to kill you. If you get sick it is because you have invited them in as a result of poor nutrition. The pathogens are often a corecting device for nutrient deficiencies.
4) All cases of polio in the US are now entirely as a consequence of the polio vaccine.
5) 86% of cases of whooping cough are in vaccinated people.
6) All of California and New York State, to name but two have a vaccination programs which are mandatory, and state benefits will be withdrawn for unvaccinated people.
7) in 1986 in the court case which resulted in the setting up of the government funded (er, that’s taxpayers to you and me) vaccine damage compensation scheme, the judge stated that “vaccines are unaviodably unsafe.

Freedom? Well that’s what they tell you.

Like Austria's 'Freedom' party, the word these days usually means freedom to fúck up someone else's life.
