If anyone was in any doubt about how utterly f**ked east Africa is...

At least it admits that the problem is completely about overpopulation. Not overconsumption, or meat eating, or western intervention. Just an area of land completely dependent on one major river both for its water source and its waste disposal, and an uncontrolled human population growth.

To answer the question in the title "Can the Nile be saved?" Yep, when several million people living along its banks are no longer living there, and all the dams have failed, it will recover just fine.
