Spot on Little John.

The whole Comey/Russian story is a load of bollacks. Trump has done nothing wrong or broken any law.

The rest is media hysteria and it is sad so many here actually believe this crap.

His base back him and impeachment remains extremely unlikely.

I would add that the desire to improve the dire state if relations with Russia, a nuclear power, is not unreasonable. Indeed it is sane.

The fact that the intelligence services in America oppose such a policy and are using the media to damage the Trump administration is a sign that democracy is in an advanced state of decay.

The Deep State are unelected bureaucrats who act like a dictatorship in a nominally democratic country. A President Sanders would have faced similar opposition if he had tried to change things from the status quo.

My position remains the case that President Trump is certainly a flawed person but on key issues like foreign policy, immigration and borders he is right.

The Deep State must be brought into line.

Even Trump's flaws may not be a bad thing, if you believe the Western world needs a bit of entropy to kick it's sorry ass [as an alternative to an all out war].

It certainly does but just how to accomplish that is the question no one has devised a workable answer for.

Bloodshed. Not because it is desirable. But, because it is inevitable insofar as change is going to happen. It will not happen in the the absence of bloodshed. That much is clear now.

I think it will end up that way.

One of the many media organs I read every day, stretching across the political spectrum, is Breibart online. The Breibart readers are strong Trump supporters and the growing rage against the "Deep State" is growing on a daily basis.

These folks are very different to the faux-radical activists on the Left who have historically opposed the antics of the CIA and the national security establishment.

The hardcore Trump support, as Greer has written before, is the rural working classes in America, with a strong base in the armed forces. These guys are also big gun nuts, unlike the activist Left.

The way I see it is these hard core elements will end up turning to violence against senior officials within the national security establishment in Washington.

I wouldn't be surprised if lists are circulated of Deep State "traitors", their names and addresses online and potentially violent retaliation taken by hardcore armed supporters of President Trump should serious attempts made to impeach him.

Smoke the Deep State out of the shadows and expose them to the rage of (a part) of the population with the very real risk of civil disorder and killings.

I can't say I look forward to such a future but if the Deep state aren't reined in soon, it will probably become inevitable.

Well you are wrong.

I'm hoping that the more sensible elements within the American national security establishment will calm down and work with the Trump administration.

Trump is proposing to sell half the us strategic oil reserve. Given that the balance of supply and demand is now turning negative, and three years of severely reduced investment in new oil developments, it looks likely that this will hold down prices for long enough to make the next oil shock very severe when it hits in a few years, as the short lifetime shale oil fields peak and traditional oil fields enter steep decline at the same time. It will also be a kick in the face for the Saudis, who are desperate to raise oil prices to sustain their own income.

You see the majority of the American national security establishment as rogue ?
& the Trump administration as sensible ?
Time will tell I guess....

Personally, I felt a lot safer under Obama....

Did you really? Then you have no idea. This may be said irrespective of any view of Trump

I can only say what I feel/felt.

Regarding evidence.....
In 8 years of Obama there were no nuclear wars or major conventional wars. OK, there were a few 'skirmishes', but the general thrust was to talk/negotiate rather than bomb...
In a few weeks of Trump, we've already had a major escalation of tension with N. Korea, an 180 degree turn with Russia, sabre rattling with China, a bizarre cosying up to Saudi Arabia and demonising of a relatively liberal regime in Iran.... We'll see, but I can't see it ending well....

You really don't know what you are talking about. I am actually quite shocked about that Mark. I don't expect people to agree with me. But, I do expect them to at least base their opinions on the facts.

You do know Obama oversaw the dropping of more bombs over his tenure than any previous peacetime resident ever?

I can't quote the statistics, but Obama's administration felt like a time of relative harmony compared to Trump's...
Saying that Obama dropped more bombs than any other peacetime president isn't saying much - the vast majority of them were involved in a war of some sort, so not much competition...????

Basically, Obama was better media fodder. And it worked!
