Excessive entertainment is a disease and insanity of industrial society which has barely existed for hundred years.........There was very little entertainment in pre-industrial society when industrial consumer goods and services did not exist.
Sports industry is one of the biggest destroyers of environment.........Millions of trees and millions of acres of fertile soil have been destroyed to build hundreds of thousands of stadiums for hundreds of sports in this world.

In industrial society in the West the farmer is only about 10% or less of the population, Sushil. What is destroying the world at the moment is the manufactured demand for useless goods in the West which is being following in the developing world and the rapid population increase in the developing world. Population has been falling in the West since the 1950s and economic growth has been bolstered by immigration from the developing world.
Despite this mass emigration population is still rising in developing countries because men there are concerned to prove their masculinity by having a large family. When women are educated and economically active they have smaller families as has happened in the west. Many men in the developing world are against female education because they want to keep their little lady at home with the many children, looking after the house: they cannot take the competition from a successful female.
The problem with the world is the psychotic greed of the 0.1% of mainly men, not the 1%, and the rampant male in the developing world. The former is driving ludicrous levels of production and the latter is driving ludicrous levels or reproduction in order to boost their fragile egos all to the disbenefit of the world that we live in.

India had a centralised policy of population control in the 1970s. It was heavily corrupt, and resulted in many men being sterilised without their permission, and led to a huge scandal and backlash. It does not help that India has a highly patriarchal society that sets high store by the number of (male) children a family has. Gender selective abortion or infanticide is rife, as in China.
Africa is a not homogeneous. Some countries/cultures/tribes are enlightened, the largest (and rapidly growing) are worse than India.
