Which in a way is a shame, as as a reluctant Remainer with a history of Euro-skepticism he probably better represents the population than many others in Westminster today!UndercoverElephant wrote:It is draining away as we speak, IMO. I hope Corbyn survives.
It wasn't his fault Labour voters deserted the Remain camp. This is all about the Blairites lust for revenge.
I don't think a GE is required... the public have voted for Brexit and have already voted a Tory government in. The Tory government may need to call a GE down the line but for the moment the priority is a Tory led Brexit national government to be formed once Cameron is replaced.

Daft indeed, but at least she's spent the morning in the public eye... where is everyone else? Are they literally in a bunker somewhere panicking about just the hell to 'do' tomorrow morning?UndercoverElephant wrote:Jesus Wept. Now Nicola Sturgeon is claiming that Scotland can "veto" the result of a British referendum. At what point will these Scottish Nationalists stop uttering idiotic drivel? She has no power to do so, and by claiming she has she just makes herself look deluded.

And now this!
The person who created it is a Leave voter and is now rather unhappy with the attention and signatures it has received. Oliver Healey, an activist for the far-right English Democrats, started the petition a month before the vote and intended it to be protection against a win for Remain.

The Canary: Corbyn fans should welcome the attempted coup: The Blairites are committing political suicideLord Beria3 wrote:I hope Corbyn survives.

The article suggests that the SNP will get a second referendum for independence. They may well be disappointed. In the middle of this chaos, Blairite MPs are focussed once again not on the national interest, but their own – and they have received exactly the reaction they deserved. Contempt. The British public can tolerate a lot of things, but we have an almost universal distaste for treachery. The Tory grandees who deposed Margaret Thatcher learnt that in the early 1990s, and now Blairites will have to learn it all over again. With no support from the country, or the party, this small but vocal wing of the party may unwittingly have signed its own death sentence. And not a moment too soon.
There should be a GE in the next 12 - 18 months at maximum. If Corbyn plays it right we could be having a completely different political party than the Blairite clique it has become. It may even be vaguely representative of the British Working Class..

Looks like we'll have to rewrite the lyrics folks. Jam tomorrow? Nah!UndercoverElephant wrote:What an extraordinary few days in British politics. Shit today, shit tomorrow. Forgive them all Lord for they know not what they have done.

Yes and no. The article fails to acknowledge that Corbyn's policy on immigration is also politically suicidal, especially after the referendum result. If he changes that, then maybe he can win an election.raspberry-blower wrote:The Canary: Corbyn fans should welcome the attempted coup: The Blairites are committing political suicideLord Beria3 wrote:I hope Corbyn survives.

The same working class that voted for Brexit because they are worried about immigration? It may even be vaguely representative of the British Working Class..

Interesting how Vatican City can get over 39k votes in the petition with a population of 800 :

Yes the one and the same. It does mean that Corbyn will have to "re-evaluate" this policy otherwise he will be history.UndercoverElephant wrote:The same working class that voted for Brexit because they are worried about immigration? It may even be vaguely representative of the British Working Class..
