I have just discovered YaCy. A peer to peer search engine. It is fully open source and so is regarded by those in the know as very safe. It works by, instead of using big (and progressively more censored) search engines like Google et al, it instead employs a distributed network of every computer that uses YarCy to hold all of the search histories and list results based on true popularity of search. Given there is no central infrastructure, there is no censoring and/or putting certain "undesirable" search results way down on page 425 etc.
I've just tested it by searching for stuff on Assange first on Google and then on YaCy. The difference of search results is striking.

I have installed this on my Linux rig and so can only advise in terms of that. Though, I should think the Windows version is a doddle to setup. The more people who use this, the more accurate and comprehensive will be its search results. So, you know what to do!
